What's with all the content above the forum list??

I'm way too datacenter oriented to work on anything but UTC. All of my machines, even my home boxes, go by it. If GMT is as close as I can get, I'll take it.

What's with all the content above the forum list??

Not saying that there's not good content there. I just expect a site named the Home Theater Forum to feature the forum part of the site. I think that's why most folks are here. Maybe some of it could be moved into the footer. Yeah. I use a wheel, but I didn't want to say that it took 4...

What's with all the content above the forum list??

That thing has been growing like wildfire. It takes 4 page scrolls to get to the first forum listing on a 1024x768 monitor now. That seems a bit excessive, no?

That was, in fact, mean. I was headed to the web site to get the latest version. I was saying earlier in e-mail that it seems that just about everyone who has purchased both the 1066 and 950 to use in their own system have ended up with a 1066. I think that's a great statement for this unit...

    Rotel 1066 or Outlaw 950

Ok, folks. Like almost everyone else who have bought both, I'm selling or returning the 950. I'll e-mail the folks the asked about it earlier some time tomorrow. If you're interested, let me know.

Hey Mark, Try this. Put in a EX disc and get it up and running. Once it's showing DD on the display, hit the dolby button on the front of the box. That should scroll through dolby modes. See if you can get EX to come up that way. I had to do that the first time I played an EX disc, but...

If you see the version number on the main menu page, you have the old version of the software. The new version does not show the version number. I think if you look at screenshots in the manual you can see where the version number would be. Like I said, I think it's the main page.

    Any Drummers Around?

I started looking into some of the kits. I'm really only looking for a 3 piece, but everything seems to start with 5. I'm probably looking for something around the perl export level or the Mapex M series. I'll keep shopping around a little and maybe hit a local shop or two to check them out this...

Cool.. Thanks for the advice. I'll take a look at some of the kits avaliable on e-bay. Any suggestions?

    Any Drummers Around?

I not so much concerned with the cost, and I've got nephews and such that I could gift the kit to if I couldn't get rid of it. I was looking at making a kit in much the same way that making a sub or Kit281 is interesting. It seems like you'd get a little better feel for how everything fits...

I simply meant that the 950 has a surround mode up and down scroll on the faceplate and a little more grainularity on the remote (DD, DTS, etc) while the 1066 has excellent grainularity on the faceplate, but a scroll button on the remote. The manuals for each product make this much more clear...

I was just refering to the surround modes. That post was followed by someone pointing out that there is a ccf file on the Rotel site with discrete codes for these modes on the 1066.

    Any Drummers Around?

I'm thinking about starting to piece together a kit. I don't play, have never played, but I have always wanted to. I've been listening to more and more music in the theater and I thought it would be great to have a kit that I could set up in there and bang along when I wanted to. I already do...

The 1066 does, in fact, have a warm presentation. I find it to be a nice match with my energy speakers. If you enjoy a warm sound, this piece will be right up your alley. The DACs in the 1066 are 24/96.

Been thinking about writing a book, need help and recommendations

One other thing that has always served me well is quitting writing for the session while I still know the next line or two I want to write. That way when I come back to the work, I can start by writing those few lines and get back into the flow of the work instead of starting at a cold point.

Been thinking about writing a book, need help and recommendations

'The Forest for the Trees' by Betsy Lerner is a great modivational book. Not to mention a great way to put off writing for a few days while you read it! It should make you feel a little less of an oddball writer. My personal experience writing shows me that you should never kid yourself into...

$1350 is pretty standard I'd say. I think that's the standard price the Home Theater Store will quote you on anything (10% off). Others have paid more and a few have found it for less. I haven't heard the 9000, so I can't give you ai direct comparison, but I'd say that the 1066 has a warm...
