Do I Need a New Router or Modem?

AC actually performs worse than n or g. you can go farther with g maybe n. but with ac you need to pretty close to your router. if you have just 1 router, you need to get into the mesh 802.11ac wave 2 type or wifi6 products. multiple runs with physical cable runs. if you that large of a house...

Do I Need a New Router or Modem?

reply to Dennis N as well re: laptop atennas. it's been a long time since i cracked open laptops, but as i recalled, Dells typically have 1 design and then they add/remove parts to sell variations of the same product on the marketplace. i seemed to recall on certain models you can replace the...

Do I Need a New Router or Modem?

i assume your issue is resolved at this point mike? i quickly scanned the post and it looks like you are basically all set. a couple of pointers: -direct wired connection to the modem should get you the max bandwidth of whatever you are supposed to be paying for. cat 5, 5e, 6, 6e, 7, etc...

A Few Words About While we wait for A few words about...™ Lawrence of Arabia -- in 4k/UHD Blu-ray

    1. i assume Robert worked on the latest restoration for the UHD? 2. 35mm resolves around 3.5k, at what resolution does 70mm resolve 5k, 6k? 8k? 3. forgive me for intermixing terms, but is there more HDR information in 70mm than 35mm? seems to me that hdr on catalog 35mm is a bit 'meh. does 70mm...

Great Films That You Only Want to See Once

i've seen every single best picture oscar winner and i'd have most of them aren't worth re-watching again :) and they deemed "great" (at least by the oscar voters)

    Rotel Owners

howdy! there were some owner threads from many years ago... but i thought i'd start one a fresh. i just landed myself a RB990 and have a quick question. is it OK to stack on top of it? the heat appears to be dissipating from top and bottom (mostly bottom) where a ton of fins are. any tips...

    TCL owners

yep, i've been using that since i've owned the roku stream+ sticks. it just extends to the TV now. the 'calibration' i ended up with was: SDR: brighter movie backlight 20 (not sure what to use on SDR with this setting) sometimes i've had it 0 or 4 or all the way up... this is the only settings...

A Question for 3D Nuts Who Have Given Up 3D

absolutely... which ironically lends to the whole "gimmick" thing. i wonder how the avatar sequels will do with trying to re-introduce 3D back >P

A Question for 3D Nuts Who Have Given Up 3D

i think Disney (in general) has done a better job for their AAA titles. like Lion King 2019 in 3D or Aladdin. the issue most of the other studios have given up. long as it's available elsewhere, 3D enthusiasts still have the option to import it. but killing it internationally means the format...

A Question for 3D Nuts Who Have Given Up 3D

Onward is still shown in 3D... so it still exists... the issue is whether films makes it out on disc itself.

A Question for 3D Nuts Who Have Given Up 3D

imho, 3D on small screens is not as impact-ful as with frame-based 3D. currently have Optoma HD25e frame-based 3D and it's amazing. larger the screen the better... so imho i dont need it on the smaller displays. the only issue is buying more glasses... with regard to that the Epson projectors...

    TCL owners

i searched and couldn't find any previous threads for this.... so i thought i'd start one. just entered the "4k race" as it were with an older model P605. wanted to know what calibration settings you are using for this model/tv. these are ones i've found from google...

Could Physical Media Extend To USB

point 1: if you are a silent film fan (like me) you cannot stream most silent films. i dont have netflix but when i was over at a friend's house last august, i searched for 'silent films' and only found 1 package here: https://www.kinolorber.com/product/pioneers-first-women-filmmakers-blu-ray...

CES 2020 News and discussion - OLED all the things!

is panasonic seriously never coming back to USA? their OLED's still the best implementation based on hdtvtest reviews ;). i love their thicker heatsink/metal on their pro-line so that it can dissipate the heat generated by OLED panels so the brightness is more uniform and the average peak can...

The Wizard of Oz in Dolby Cinema - October 25, 2019

sounds like amc and places like that should offer classic era film titles then allow consumers to vote :) just my 2cents. that way (in theory) the one that has the most vote should get the most audiences?

Are there any Dolby Vision 60fps that also supports 3D?

i'm tryign to reduce the footprint for the amount of physical discs i have. keeping JUST BD3D for movies vs. 2D as well. like avater theatrical cut i'll only watch it in 3D (for example)

^see my reply before your post. yep i understand that. i wasn't expecting to play UHD+3D+DV HFR although that would have been pretty c00l :)

Are there any Dolby Vision 60fps that also supports 3D?

no, i'm just late into everything. i *JUST* got a pioneer kuro 141... because it was free :) i *JUST* got a optoma projector capable of 3D... so just getting into 3D content here. yes i know it's largely decline... but until Disney and some smaller shops like the 3D Archive organization says...
