Press Release Criterion Press Release: Summertime (1955) (Blu-ray)

Okay, I have been reading exchanges in this thread over the past 24 hours and I am noticing a level of hostile, snarky remarks that I am uncomfortable with being posted on this forum. We strive for our members to be polite to each other. If you can't debate politely and feel the need to...

Press Release Criterion Press Release: Summertime (1955) (Blu-ray)

Would it be unheard of for Criterion to put both versions on a single Blu-ray disc? All they would have to do is a second pass of the film with a different aspect ratio.

Yes. They are not responding though I have received word that they are aware of the complaints and are moving forward as they intended to. In other words, they believe they are in the right and aren't changing the aspect ratio.

Andrew, I particularly feel that the mentioning of torches and pitchforks seems like enough of an incentive for Criterion to fix the issue. Thanks for including that little extra "nudge" to remind them they need to do the right thing here.

Justin and Bob, Thank you very much for your input here. I have included both of your quotes in an email I have just sent to Lee Kline over at Criterion. Again, thanks for the help. I am hoping that a correction can be made in time.

I need better than this. I need to know what aspect ratio Criterion is releasing it at and what the proper Academy ratio is before sending them a formal contact.

Press Release Criterion Press Release: Summertime (1955) (Blu-ray)

With this sublimely bittersweet tale of romantic longing, director David Lean left behind the British soundstage to capture in radiant Technicolor the sun-splashed glory of Venice at the height of summer. In a tour de force of fearless vulnerability, Katharine Hepburn embodies the conflicting...
