I'm still doing both pretty actively. I try to see as many new releases as possible, probably 2-3 per week on average, but I'm only buying the ones I really like after getting from Netflix, catalog titles, and new releases that I know I'll like but can't see in theaters (2 kids under the age of 3).
I wasn't blown away by Blu-Ray when I got my first player, other than noticing how "perfect" the image looked on the menu for the first movie I watched, but it was more a deal where, after a few months of watching Blus, I just couldn't stand to watch DVDs or broadcast HD movies anymore. For...
I liked the movie a lot more watching it at home than my original theatrical viewing. The video looks a little darker than it did in theaters, but maybe that's my memory playing tricks on me because some of the scenes that were in all of the TV spots are definitely darker here and I know that...
Much of this Star Wars Blu-Ray affair has reminded me of the classic South Park episode where the school is holding an election between a turd and a douche. You can either get this set or not have Star Wars on Blu-Ray. For me, that would mean not watching Star Wars anymore, which I like to do a...
Do the numbers include each trilogy's stand-alone release? If not, what would that do to the numbers? Not that I saw that many of those moving, but I know some people picked those up. Let's hope this encourages the full restoration of the originals by showing how eager people still are to buy...
Is it just me, or has the upgrade to HD suddenly made it so you can see David Prowse's eyes through the mask on some shots in Star Wars? That's probably something to fix for next time.
I also just watched AOTC and I'd agree with all of this. I also spotted a new change to AOTC that I haven't seen reported elsewhere. During Anakin's nightmare, you can now hear what he is hearing.
I just finished watching The Phantom Menace. I'm not especially critical about these things, but I thought it was a pretty mixed bag in the video department. For the most part, the opening section of the movie looked really good to me, but it looked kind of like the first Gladiator Blu-Ray in...
While I think that the trend of every tentpole getting a 3D version will end before long, I think Star Wars would be far from alone as a 3D presentation for awhile still. The industry's sunk enough money (and hopes) into 3D that I think it would take a few years of it looking like a complete...
I would agree, but I don't know what the threshhold is for how well these need to perform to be deemed a success, especially since I don't think we know yet what kind of merchandising blitz will be put around them and whether or not that will be enough to justify going further. How much do we...
Q4 does make the most sense from a business perspective. For Spielberg though, maybe he doesn't want ET, Jaws, and Indy to hit Blu all at the same time and he knows Indy is the furthest along...
Tossing aside any subjective element of fixed versus unfixed, didn't anyone from Lucasfilm realize what a major hit it would be to their credibility if they brought everyone down for that event and basically used them to mislead the public???
This is probably the best movie I've ever seen with regards to the way that it is able to put you back in the moment and really make you reflect on everything that happened that day. I know it's something that a lot of people might not want to see, but you won't regret it. There's nothing cheap...
I was 2 when Jedi came out, so I've never really known Star Wars without it. Up until I was in my mid-teens, I would have said it was my favorite of the trilogy and I think almost all of my friends would have agreed. Honestly, until around 1995 or so I wasn't even aware of the general notion...
I'm going to be pissed if the extended cut fixes some of the movie's problems that lead to it having such terrible word-of-mouth. This was probably the most disappointing cinematic experience of my life (I'm a huge Green Lantern fan, I think he's one of the easiest characters to adapt, and I...
While it sucks that they're not getting a Platinum-level restoration, I'm hoping that this, Dumbo, and Alice in Wonderland being released throughout the year (not just 2 Disney animated titles per year) is something we can expect even more of in 2012. Not everything will get a Platinum edition...
Cool. Thanks. I think the Marvel Comics adaptation also included a scene with a couple of those remotes from Star Wars being used by Luke on Dagobah. Is there any evidence that that was filmed? I could already see why the Wampa parts were cut from that little bit in the deleted scenes preview...
I'd love to get any extra training bits with Luke on Dagobah. I've never seen anything to make me think all of that was shot, but they probably still have at least the practical elements with Hamill on the set completed.
