Kino-Lorber Insider Announcement Thread (Read Guidelines Post #3)

Yup, Eleanor Parker was just so classy in every film she was in.

Physical Media might not be dead, but Physical Media in Retail Stores are accelerating the death

Who'd have thought that physical media was just a passing phase (well, with music, a rather long phase, first LP 1948 & CDs are only a couple of years away from their 40th birthday). Maybe movies & TV series are on the cusp (will these new epic fantasy TV series be released on Blu-ray like Game...

Is Paris Burning? (1966) restored in 4K

Ha, I saw it on Talking Pictures TV, a really old transfer sharpened to infinity, the picture just shimmered. What I found a bit off-putting was the very loose lip-sync, a lot (all?) of it was obviously re-voiced, & probably not by the actor onscreen (but then I only saw about 20 minutes of it)...

Is Paris Burning? (1966) restored in 4K

"The OCN has disappeared". Well if the restoration is based on a shortened copy of the OCN, it hasn't all gone, & I'd think a third generation is a negative made from a fine grain pos. made from the OCN, which could look very good. Anyway, all good news. Could it be that we'll have a Blu-ray of...

Warner Bros Archive Wish List 2022 and Beyond!!

Yup, I'd love to see a decent HD of She (1965). I haven't seen an acceptable transfer since I saw it at the pictures a lifetime ago. Not exactly a lost masterpiece, but I really like it & it would fill a big She sized gap in the Hammer catalogue.

International Get Carter BFI 4K UHD & Blu-ray

Yup, I agree as well. It's such a relentlessly bleak film. I enjoyed it at the cinema at the time & occasionally watch it on TV (I don't always make it to the end), it seems like a strange choice for 4K, all grain & not much colour.

Warner Bros Archive Wish List 2022 and Beyond!!

I'm starting to doubt if those two lovely epics, Land Of The Pharaohs & Helen Of Troy will ever be released, but I have been suckered into thinking that I'll have Scaramouche before too long, what with those other Technicolor swashbucklers getting a WAC release.

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ - Event Horizon -- in 4k UHD

I quite like this & would buy the 4K, but I'm not paying the big bucks for the lovely packaging (which I couldn't care less about). I'll see what the price is like in a years time.

Press Release USHE Press Release: A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur's Court (1949) (Blu-ray)

Oh I dunno, I was very pleased with the Blu-ray of Unconquered (1947), although Robert Harris was less than impressed. If it's the same upgrade from the DVD as that film, then I'll be happy...& anyway, it's going to look miles better than those old Fox Technicolor films transferred from those...

The 100 Greatest Action Movies on Blu-ray

Ah, I don't see Bad Boys 2 on the list! The film may be ridiculous, but by god does it have some action in it. The whole scene near the beginning, the shoot-out that turns into a car chase, which really ramps up as they're on the bridge, finishing up in that old house with the camera rotating...

Press Release USHE Press Release: A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur's Court (1949) (Blu-ray)

I see it's up for pre-order on Wow, where I usually buy American Blu-rays, but no rush to order, I'll wait 'till we know a bit more.

Press Release USHE Press Release: A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur's Court (1949) (Blu-ray)

Ha, I'd think it's odds on that it's the same transfer, they can't all be like Warner Archive releases. Anyway, I'm hoping for the best, & less than perfection will be okay (I can't even remember if I've seen it in colour, I think the last time I saw it was on TV in the sixties, before the UK...

A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (1949) on Bluray?

Ha, I always want to see reviews first, except for WAC, I think they've earned a bit of trust.

A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (1949) on Bluray?

Ooo, I've just seen (over at blu-ray.com) that Universal are releasing this on August 23rd (three Bing films along with, Here Is My Heart (1934) & Welcome Stranger (1947). A pleasant surprise in these grim times. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=353584

The 100 Greatest Action Movies on Blu-ray

Well the way I see it is, all films are action films unless they're a talk fest. When I think of action movies I think of a relatively recent genre, maybe going back to the mid-eighties, films starring, Arnie, Bruce, Sly, the whole gang (not forgetting Mel & Danny), films that are all violent...

Ha, I never even noticed that!

The 100 Greatest Action Movies on Blu-ray

I think the choice could be a bit too wide ranging for the description "Action Movie". I mean, where's, The Rock, Con-Air or Bad Boys 2 & probably a dozen others. I wouldn't include westerns or epics, & any list that has The Wild Bunch in at 97 out of a hundred, well there's something wrong...

    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

Well I don't think I'm a loyal customer, but if they release something I want, then the wallet will open wide. If not, it stays firmly closed. :)

    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

Thanks, there's nothing I want right now, but if there's any title in the next announcements that I must buy, I'll check it out. But I'm thinking that's doubtful, about four wanted titles a year from WAC is about average for me, in fact my catalogue buying has slowed right down (almost stopped)...

    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

Thanks, but no I've never used them. And I would have had trouble picking four, as when WAC release a film I want, I buy it. I think it's four so far this year: The Three Musketeers, Gold Diggers Of 1933, Ivanhoe & Don Juan (which I hope to receive this or next week). So no announcements so far...

    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

No great prices across the pond, they're all around £23 delivered. I wish they were cheaper, but they are imports, & as you Americans say; it is what it is. It's okay, it stops me buying titles that I don't really want or need. Anyway...it's now the third Tuesday of the month, so my prediction...

Warner Bros Archive Wish List 2022 and Beyond!!

Can't resist a list, here's ten: The Big Sky (1952) Scaramouche (1952) Land Of The Pharaohs (1956) Helen Of Troy (1956) Teahouse Of The August Moon (1956) Up Periscope (1959) She (1965) Start The Revolution Without Me (1970) Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid (1973) Pennies From Heaven (1981)

International BFI release of Mary, Queen Of Scots (1971)

"Yes...I remember it well" :) I've just been listening to a program on the radio about how the brain works, & it contained a well know line, "we don't see things as they are, we see them how we are".

    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

Only 43? It's come back big time, but it seems it's not quite so serious this time. I've started wearing a facemask again on public transport & in shops. I'm 71, live in London & use public transport all the time (busses & underground) & amazingly have still yet to catch it. So far, all that's...

International Via Vision Entertainment Announces Premium Blu-ray Label "IMPRINT"

Well I get the impression that Via Vision just release what they're given by the studios. So that could be from very good to very bad. They're certainly not a company that I'd pre-order from without reading a few reviews/comments first.

    Barabbas HELP !!!!!!!!!

Yup, as I posted before; it's either a new scan & master job from Sony, or it's the same old rubbish, no matter what country is releasing it.

Well, The Frisco Kid is released tomorrow, so if Warner want to get back to announcements for the month ahead, then it should be tomorrow for the next announcements, if not...I dunno.

Blu-ray Review The Frisco Kid Blu-ray Review

Yup, that's the Wilder I want! It was the first DVD I ever imported (in the old Warner cardboard case), I viewed a couple of weeks ago & enjoyed it just as much as when I first saw it at Christmas time 1970. Anyway, back to The Frisco Kid which I've never seen or fancied seeing.

    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

Well if you're going to get logical about it! I have a lot of DVDs in my little house & really need to have a clear-out, & there's a lot of films on DVD that I probably won't watch again, films that I would buy a good looking Blu-ray of, insane, but there it is (& I have kept a large number of...

    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

I'm having a big DVD clear-out (piles of DVDs everywhere), I'll fill the car up tomorrow & donate them to charity shops. I'm picking up Warner DVDs & thinking, can I get shot of it? Will it be released on Blu-ray? I'm playing safe with a few titles & keeping them (sods law, if I get rid of them...
