A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Bourne Trilogy -- in Blu-ray

I could write for a mile about the gross inaccuracies and perversions of fact littering your post, but to what end? I've asked twice now for the bickering over so little to cease; your refusal to do so speaks volumes. If you are pleased with sacrificing your dignity, I won't stop you--but nor...

    Logan's Run BD this year?!

Please. I'd say JURASSIC PARK's effects are still in the top five CG effects in film history, and it took over a decade, with effects like CHRONICLES OF NARNIA's Aslan and the revamped KING KONG before CG ever began to match the photorealistic bar of quality set by JP in '93.

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Bourne Trilogy -- in Blu-ray

Let's be fair and realistic with our accusations here--reread my original post and you'll see that all I was doing was giving Mr. Harris a little ribbing, the equivalent of "oh, that Robert Harris, he sure can be a crazy kid sometimes, can't he?" It was others, such as yourself, that turned that...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Bourne Trilogy -- in Blu-ray

    1) I never said "had to", but you and others chose to publically disagree with me nonetheless, prompting me to defend my opinion. So, if you insist on being so pedantic about the issue, please reread my last post as if the words "if you choose to agree/disagree with me..." were included. 2) I...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Bourne Trilogy -- in Blu-ray

I still say that the amount of concern Mr. Harris puts on unorthodox packaging vs. dropped bonus features is perplexing and thoroughly out of balance. That's just my opinion; I've nothing more to embellish. If you agree with Mr. Harris's balance of concerns, then you and I don't relate. If you...

    Taxi Driver: Blu-ray delayed???

TAXI DRIVER and DR. STRANGELVOE were removed from the schedule a while back. Only DR. STRANGELOVE has been rescheduled so far (for 6/16). No word yet on TAXI DRIVER...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Bourne Trilogy -- in Blu-ray

Surely someone of your clout can afford a presentational shelf for just these types of special releases. I have one and am sure I make a fraction of your salary.

    Blu-rays with multiple versions

Just think of me as the Dr. McCoy of the forum; I come from the same caring place as the rest of you, I just get gruff when everything gets discombobulated...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Bourne Trilogy -- in Blu-ray

Indeed, you are apparently puzzled; my reference to your laissez faire attitude towards missing extras has nothing to do with the Bourne release which, as you note, is stuffed with bonus features. I mean to say that in reviews of previous Blu-ray releases that carried over few, or none, of the...

    Blu-rays with multiple versions

Sweet Jesus, let's break this down like we're five year-olds. THE X-FILES: FIGHT THE FUTURE (the first X-FILES film) contains both the theatrical and extended home video versions, via branching, on the Blu-ray. THE X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE (the second X-FILES film) also contains both the...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Bourne Trilogy -- in Blu-ray

Obviously...thusly, I consider that weird. It's like not having a care in the world that you're flying in a plane that's missing a wing, but griping to the stewardess that the seats are too cramped.

Yes, I agree, I spoke too harshly. I guess I'm just extremely grumpy at all things STAR TREK in 2009...

Zero availablility of "Jurassic Park" in DTS

Out of print, yes, but I found one site that looks like they can hook you up--MOVE FAST!: Jurassic Park Collector's Edition; DTS Surround 5.1 DVD

Blu-ray Review HTF Blu-Ray Review: Zodiac 2 Disc Director's Cut.

Personally, though there was much to value in the film, I still feel it is Fincher's only career (partial) stumble so far, a movie whose many virtues somehow fail to add up to fully compelling whole. My chief gripe is that the film grossly violates one of the most basic rules of...

HTF BluRay Review: King Kong (2005) - Recommended (with a caveat!)

Star Trek films on Blu-Ray... what we know so far

I'll help you on the latter but, sorry, no to the former. Ironic that the only way I can get what I want is to a) buy a costly boxed set that falls well below my standards and b) pay to see a reboot movie that looks excrutiatingly, migraine-inducingly poor. Well, Homie don't play dat.

Star Trek films on Blu-Ray... what we know so far

The writer is obviously an idiot--he's clearly referring to VI, not IV. And if this is true--theatrical versions only of I, II and VI--then I'm officially out. Forget it. There's no justification for not offering both cuts, at least for II and VI, at this time.

Star Trek films on Blu-Ray... what we know so far

Just couldn't show all of the delta shield, could they? Not really a problem with the layout on the TV set, but chopping the top off on the movie set just looks lazy and wrong...

Will Universal re-release the Bourne films in Blu-ray?

The reviews I've been seeing online elsewhere seem to support your theory. Looks like The Digital Bits got careless with this announcement...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Bourne Trilogy -- in Blu-ray

Dropped bonus features from the SD-DVD and Mr. Harris hardly makes a mention (it sure as Hades won't stop him from giving a bare-bones Blu-ray a Highly Recommended rating) but put Blu-rays in a gorgeous display box and he nearly has a aneurysm. You're an odd man sometimes, Mr. Harris, a very odd...

Silence of the Lambs - Full Specs Inside!

Hmm, on the C.E. SD-DVD, "Breaking the Silence" is only one part of a three-part documentary, the other two parts ("The Beginning" and "Making THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS") of which I am not seeing listed here; conversely, there is nothing on the C.E. called "Understanding the Madness". Looks like...

Will Universal re-release the Bourne films in Blu-ray?

Yes, but it was also listed a few years back in the press release for the SD-DVD of the "Explosive Extended Version" so we won't know 100% for sure until the BD is in our hands or a knowledgeable source reviews the title.

Star Trek films on Blu-Ray... what we know so far

I was with you intially--it's hard to fairly reassess what we've become used to, but the more you think about it, the sound design of TMP aligns with nothing we'd heard previous or since. The DC, while perhaps less sonically dynamic, is more in alignment with established TREK lore in several...

Will Universal re-release the Bourne films in Blu-ray?

Got that one, too--whew! But I'd heard those featurettes were supposed to be on the BD--are they confirmed not to be?

Star Trek films on Blu-Ray... what we know so far

Precisely; in these days of economic hardship, if Paramount is willing to devote its more limited dollars where they matter (video/audio quality, worthwhile supplements) by cutting a few niceties where they really don't (I mean, come on, disc art--why do you really need that?), I'm not about to...

Will Universal re-release the Bourne films in Blu-ray?

Well, you get what you pay for and, at such a ridiculously low price point, what do you expect from the Blu-ray set? ;) :p Meanwhile, back in the real world, yes, this is an unconscionable loss (NOTHING that was on an SD-DVD should be left off of Blu-ray! Why is this so hard for studios to...

Star Trek films on Blu-Ray... what we know so far

At this point, and I say this as a long-time die-hard Trekker, that may be the only thing that will drag me to the theater to see this...this...whatever the hell it is...

Star Trek films on Blu-Ray... what we know so far

I'm confused--the newer D.C. does not erase anything substantial of Trumbull's exceptional work (the aforementioned Vulcan shot is the only thing that comes to mind, and the newer graphics are an improvement in that regard), so the original theatrical version won't be giving you much of anything...
