    UHD Review Giant UHD Review

I've watched the first half of the UHD and give it a thumbs up. It's a marked improvement over the BD. (120" proj)

    UHD Review Giant UHD Review

Dang what a mixed bag. I think I will just have to open the UHD and see it on the big screen. This one is a nice improvement: https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?a=1&x=475&y=203&d1=17389&d2=17388&s1=193391&s2=193383&l=0&i=14&go=1

    UHD Review Giant UHD Review

My copy arrived this morning, and I had decided to leave it unopened for return until seeing caps-a-holic comparisons. After watching the first half of the old blu-ray this morning I see the caps are up. I guess I will open the UHD :-)

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ - A Fistful of Dollars & For a Few Dollars More -- in 4k UHD

I have the UHD TGTBATU which is awesome and was highly needed. Today I watched A Fistful of Dollars from the Man With No Name Trilogy BD from 2010 to review its awesomeness or lack of. It looked really good. I'm on the fence on $40 for the first two movies. Maaybe I'll wait for a lower price to...

    XGIMI previews Aura UST projector

Their product page consistently refers to "any wall", and never discusses what should be the characteristics of the wall or how various other textures or colors affect the display. That seems a bit suspicious...

Blu-ray Review A Few Words About A few words about…™ National Velvet – in Blu-ray

We watched this sweet movie tonight- a lovely presentation at 120", and also enjoyed the witty dialog especially between Mr Brown and Mrs Brown :-)

Blu-ray Review A Few Words About A few words about…™ Angels with Dirty Faces – in Blu-ray

I have some DVD (ripped to a Plex server) which look great- upsampled by the BD player and projected to 120" with the 5050UB. But most are far out-classed by their BD counterparts. You sound hostile to the BD format, and of course, there are movies on BD not released on DVD. cheers

UHD Review The Outsiders: The Complete Novel UHD Review

Love this movie (helps I grew up 100 miles from Tulsa, 60s and 70s). I agree the surround mix is way over the top, detracting from the movie. Why oh why Mr Coppola? Edit: I guess next time around, I'll put the receiver in stereo mode and see if that fixes it...

Press Release Lionsgate Press Release: Terminator 2: Judgment Day: Best Buy Exclusive Steelbook (4k UHD Combo)

I normally fawn over natural grain and eschew DNR (and I absolutely can't stand sharpening to the point of haloing), but I know when I watched this UHD a couple years ago, I liked it and didn't mind the lack of grain, since the detail is quite good and sharp, and thinking that as a science...

UHD Review A Few Words About While we Wait for A few words about...™ No Time to Die -- in 4k UHD

... anyone put off by the extended run time? Aren't most Bond films right about 2 hrs (or maybe those are pre-Craig)

"Last Summer" (Frank Perry) on DVD?

Here's hoping it's getting closer; would this be a WAC product? Anywhere to watch it streaming?

Blu-ray Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Shawshank Redemption -- in 4k UHD Blu-ray

Anticipating the UHD, I watched the Digibook BD copy (17Mb VC-1) and it looked very nice projected at 120". But I decided to keep the UHD preorder, even on my new retirement budget, and can't wait to watch it.

    A few words about…™ Peter Ibbetson – in Blu-ray

Not worth the quibble. But my guess is RH doesn’t use an absolute scale but rather considers the circumstances of each movie…

I Catalogued My Entire Physical Media TV And Movie Collection

I have all my DVD (233) and BD (2049) captured on Blu-ray.com, and their free app on my iPhone. It's perfect. In addition, all my CD (1226), DVD, and a few BD are ripped to disc. I use Plex for all those digital assets, with the Plex app for desktop, iPhone, and on the Roku attached to my HT...

A Few Words About A few words about…™ To Catch a Thief (redux) – in Blu-ray

I just watched the Restoration bonus on the Baraka disc. I believe what you are saying is that there is no 8K scan data from which to build a new 4K UHD? What a shame- and how short- sighted. Then I guess we won't be waiting on one....

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ Almost Famous & Untitled Bootleg Cut -- in 4k UHD Blu-ray

The argument over should the 1080 disc be included or not is pointless. (Especially on every other 4K release thread- it's been talked to death.) There's no single playbook the studios use to resolve the combinations of UHD vs new/ old 1080p. But in this case, there is a new 1080p disc, that...

    SVS PB-1000 Pro Review

I have just received my 4 SVS Elevations, and the 3 Prime bookshelf are on the way (as is a new 120" AT screen) for my new home theater. I've been trying to ignore the PB-1000 reviews (but of course reading all of them), and to just be satisfied with my one SB-1000. I just don't think I can hold...
