Scream Factory Press Release: King Kong Collector's Edition (1976) (Blu-ray)

Thanks for the info. Again my only concern is that we are given the extended version in the correct aspect ratio the same way Warner Archive did for Superman.

Scream Factory Press Release: King Kong Collector's Edition (1976) (Blu-ray)

I am looking forward to this, but please let the extended version be 2.39 ratio and not 1.33 as it was broadcast.

Around The World In 80 Days (1956)

If it can happen I would love to see a full analog restoration of the original Todd-Ao elements in 70 MM 30fps. The film being a travelogue is made for such images.

    My Fair Lady

If it is OK I would like one as well. How do I PM you ??

    A Few Words About A few words about...™ Spectre -- in Blu-ray

I really enjoyed this Bond film but with UHD on the Horizon and the fact that it was shot anamorphically on film and finished in true 4K, I will wait to pick it up on UHD HDR instead.

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Ten Commandments -- in Blu-ray

Thanks Robert. I hope this practice would be applied to every 35 MM horizontal production by all studios. BTW, this being a large format film, would it not have been more beneficial to scan it at 8K instead of 6K ??

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Ten Commandments -- in Blu-ray

I have a question for Robert Harris Was the Ten Commandment BD restoration the same with what was done with the new Spartacus BD ?? Meaning, did they actually restore and scan the original 8 perf Camera Negative ??

    A Few Words About A few words about...™ Innerspace -- in Blu-ray

I saw many films at the Century Plaza in Los Angeles with the HPS-4000 system. Unfortunately that theatre closed down and was demolished in 03. When the sound was not tampered with, it was the finest sounding theatre. And being in LA, that is saying something.

    AT CLOSE RANGE

I have never seen this film. Looking forward to checking it out.

A Few Words About A few words about...™ A View to Kill -- in Blu-ray

From what I understand only the pre-title sequence is cropped. The rest of the film is fine. Still unacceptable.

    A Few Words About A few words about...™ Vertigo -- in Blu-ray

For those living in the Bay Area, the Castro theatre in San Francisco will be showing Vertigo in 70 MM DTS digital sound Fri Sep 4 thru Mon Sep 7 This is one of those rare occasions where a Vistavision large format film was not reduction printed, and can be viewed in all its original glory...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ Summer Lovers -- in Blu-ray

Who would have thought a movie like Summer Lovers would spark such an interesting discussion about AR and film format. :)

A Few Words About A few words about...™ Summer Lovers -- in Blu-ray

I am well aware that very very few theatres can project the Hateful Eight properly. Cineramadome in Hollywood is one of those rare few which has a 85 foot screen with the necessary anamorphic lens to de-squeeze the 70 MM picture. I honestly think Tanrantino is sending a big F**k You to the...

Not quite. Star Trek IV had a couple of 70 MM prints encoded with Dolby SR.

A Few Words About 'While we wait for A few words about...™ Spartacus -- in Blu-ray'

I am so excited, I am on cloud nine. I only wish our good friend Robert Harris had done a new commentary for this release.

A Few Words About A few words about...™ Summer Lovers -- in Blu-ray

I have always been against the new theatres that have constant width size and always will be. 2.35 films should always be projected larger in size than 1.85 films, not smaller. Which is why my home theatre which I plan to have will have Constant Image Height, the way a real theatre should be...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ Summer Lovers -- in Blu-ray

If that is your way of thinking then why even have different AR to begin with. All the movies should have just stuck with the old 1.37 ratio. Its common knowledge films are shot in the wider ratio to show more of the atmosphere and add to the Scope of the film. Of course not all films benefit...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ Summer Lovers -- in Blu-ray

Thanks so much for your recommendation. I love this film, but still cannot figure out, with all the beautiful scenery, why Randal Kleiser did not shoot both this and the Blue Lagoon in Scope 2.35

    A Few Words About A few words about...™ Innerspace -- in Blu-ray

Thanks so much. Another quality BD from WB. There is a lot of buzz on the other sites regarding the Crackling sound, and some say it is only limited to those with Sony players. I certainly can't hear any crackling from the clip that was posted, but that may be because I am listening through the...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ Free Willy -- in Blu-ray

Thanks Robert. With your recommendation and the $9 price tag, this is a no brainer. If you have the time I would love to hear your thoughts on Innerspace.

    A Few Words About A few words about...™ Goldeneye -- in Blu-ray

I read somewhere that Goldeneye did have a new master but due to the technician's goof, it ended up being severey cropped so they decided to use an old master for the DVD instead.

Summer Lovers (1982): One Lucky Dude on blu...with Daryl Hannah and Valerie Quienessen

For many years this film was thought to have been filmed in Panavision 2.35. The wiki page also states this as well. However, recently Randall Kleiser on Twitter confirmed that the film was indeed filmed Flat with an AR of 1.85. I will definitely pick this up if the transfer is decent.

Well the first and the only film I ever walked out of was Johnny Mnemonic. Speed 2 was a masterpiece by comparison.

    Far And Away (1992)

I would be quite shocked if Universal actually scanned this from 65 MM. Awaiting your confirmation Brent.
