Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Wasn't aware about any any problems with continbuing with the Ben Casey season releases. Or did I miss something?

    Ben Casey

Well, all umbrellas are. Also, I understand it's not a legitimate release.

    Ben Casey

By the way, Amazon has had available for years three Ben Casey DVD packages, with 20 episodes each, under the shady Collector Series umbrella.

Early Color TV Series (pre-1966): compiling a list

12 O'Clock High began in 1964 and was in B/W the first two seasons before switching to color in the abbreviated third and last season. Also Danger Man could technically make the list, as the last two episodes -filmed in 1967 for the aborted fourth season- were in color.

Popular Shows not on DVD & Not airing anywhere

Yes, that's true, but, as far as I remember, he had never been a regular in any series before Mary Tyler Moore, where he costarred for several years, so perhaps many viewed him as mainly a comedic actor. But he was -or is- such a great actor, that I think he would have done well in almost...

Popular Shows not on DVD & Not airing anywhere

Well Ed Asner went almost right away from doing comedy (Mary Tyler Moore) to drama (Lou Grant), and with the same character no less.

    Lancer

If I remember correctly, Elizabeth Bauer is basically wasted in this series... she barely appears at all in later episodes and is certainly not one of the leads. Its a very good series anyway and Andrew Duggan is fantastic, as he always was. I would certainly love to see Bourbon Street Beat, the...

Maybe it's closer to 'a hit now has less viewers than a flop then'.

What are Your Favorite Vintage Western Series?

Gunsmoke, by far. But also Maverick, Laredo, Wagon Train, Rawhide, Have Gun Will Travel, The Virginian, Laramie... and 'modern' westerns like Stoney Burke The Wide Country and Empire.

The High Chaparral Season 1 - Coming 8/28/18

Another western from the late sixties that followed this pattern, in both aspects, was Lancer, a two season series with the great Andrew Duggan as the patriarch'owner of the ranch, his two sons (from different wives) and Elizabeth Bauer, later of Ironside, as the young female living with them...

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

Don't know if NYPD Blue qualifies as classic TV, but it certainly is a classic, and I was watching the full re-run on Audience (DirecTV) when suddenly, on Thursday 6 September-, they apparently pulled the show off, just when it was close to the end of of its 12 season run. Anyone knows what...

    Classic TV show books

The funny thing about Route 66 -and I guess about many shows, including classic ones- is that there inevitable are sub par episodes, but its also interesting reading analysis about them. I read a Marin Milner interview once where he said that, on average, of every four Route 66 episodes, one was...

    Classic TV show books

Through the years I've bought 'companion bpoks for Maverick, The Avengers, Combat! and a great one doing an in depth study, episode by episode,,of Danger Man and The Prisoner. A big disappointment is the James Rosin Route 66 companion, which is very slim and superficial, in my opinion. Most of...

Shout Factory Press Release: Route 66: The Complete Series

I'm sure you're right. I just wrote what I remember having read several times about the show, that most of the places visited were not really on Route 66, even going as far north as Canada ans south as Florida (and almost Cuba, in the jai alai episode).

Shout Factory Press Release: Route 66: The Complete Series

I understand only four ot the series' episodes actually took place on Route 66, or some other ridiculously low number.

    A&E Baseball dvd releases

The one that's available, in full color, is really the next to last game. The last game of the season was the one won by Lomborg to break the tie and send the Red Sox to the World Series. That's why Lomborg wasn't available to open the series against Bob Gibson, though.

    A&E Baseball dvd releases

I think the oldest complete non World Series of All Star Game video is the next to last day game of the 1967 season between Boston and Minnesota, where the Red Sox tie for first place and set the scene for their pennant clinching victory the next day. Anyone has information regarding All Star...

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

Very good. A bit like Danger Man, but more easy going. Great production values... some of the episodes were filmed on location in different -and exotic- parts of the world. There's even a great color episode, apparently filmed as an experiment. In short, a very similar series to the equally...

What did you watch this week in classic TV on DVD(or Blu)?

I''ve been watching episodes from Man of the World, the short lived british series starring Craig Stevens (Peter Gunn), from the mid sixties, and from The Saint, season 3.

The Outer Limits is turning 50....

It does seem strange hearing music that one associated with The Outer Limits in Stoney Burke, but that is a great series too. Its a modern western, but mainly an adult drama about the rodeo circuit, not the regular kind with sheriffs and shoot em ups. Anyway, doesn´t The Invaders also some of...

    The Invaders

I loved The Invaders, but I would also like to someday get a complete set of Roy Thinnes' previous series, Long Hot Summer, from 1965, which lasted one full season. The series was one of the last made in B&W and was one of the first TV dramas filmed as a serial -what nowdays would be called an...

    Rarest dramas of the 60s

The Canadian series Wojeck, starring John Vernon, was a big hit in its home country and I'm sure it was exported and even dubbed into Spanish, because I remember seeing it in Puerto Rico. I remember it as a great, gritty and realistic series about a coroner, and it's said that it served as a...
