    Multi-Venue Projector Question

I agree with Josh. For the money, Epson is a great projector. I've been running my model 5010 for 10 years on the same bulb and since the pandemic we've been running a movie every night, 7 days a week.

What's on your Daily Viewing List?

Screened the newest SCREAM tonight. It was just so so. Nothing special. I read they are already filming Scream #6. Since the latest one did 140 million, I'm not surprised.

    My Home Theater Page

Wow Dave..sounds like a nightmare to me. Hope you find the issues without a lot of trouble. I admit you guys are talking a foreign language to me. I think I'll stick to streaming, Blu Ray and 35mm film. Much less complicated!! Good luck.

Auto levels or manual levels? Which is better?

With the Dolby digital processor I use, every film format is a little different from the others. When I run a mono film, it's set on 5.0. Dolby A is 5.5, SR is 5.0, and SRD, DTS and SDDS are somewhere between 4 and 5 on the processor. Most all of the BD's and streaming is on level 7.0. There...

New HT in Sun City, Ca

Does anyone think Jurassic Park 3 is a BAD movie? It seems to be ranked as #5 in the recent surveys which makes me wonder why I can't find a 35mm print to add to my Jurassic collection. It's the last Jurassic movie to be released on film. I didn't think it was that bad of a movie........your...

Jurassic World: Dominion (June 10, 2022)

The 3D format accounted for around 25% of worldwide ticket sales. I don't know if that's good or bad.

We might see JP in a theatre, but I doubt it. More than likely we'll wait for the BD release. IMO, after JP #1 and #2 it's going to be a let down. I don't think any new JP release will top JP #1.

What was your very first movie on physical media purchase?

I think it counts. Mine was 16mm as well which turned into 35mm. I had 35mm before I had a Beta Max.

MartinP. said: ^^^ You could be thinking of the Warner Hollywood. From Los Angeles Theatres: It's still owned by Robertson Properties, the real estate arm of Pacific Theatres. The last regular film exhibition was in 1994. It was later used as a test house for digital projection technology and...

What was your very first movie on physical media purchase?

Well, since the only media there was back in the 50's was 8 & 16mm film (other than 35mm only at theatres) I'd have to say my first media purchase were cartoons and I'll never forget the first. It was a 16mm sound toon of Woody Woodpecker entitled "Well Oiled". It was a black and white copy of...

    The COVID Vaccination Thread

Sounds reasonable. We spend the extra money to fly first class simply because it puts more distance between us the the other passengers. The air is petty clean in the big jets.

    The COVID Vaccination Thread

We have a trip planned from Lax to Dallas in August. Planning to wear the mask until the plane is underway and again walking through DFW. Both of us have had 4 shots and we stay home most of the time. Fingers crossed we can stay safe.

Blu-ray Review Flower Drum Song Blu-ray Review

Finally got around to screening this last night. I keep my Epson 5010 on a brightness of "1" but had to turn it up for FDS. For years I was use to the brightness of a technicolor 35mm print with a 2,000 watt xenon bulb so it looked dim to us on the Epson. Looked much better once we turned up...

    The DIY Screen Masking Thread

Mark my main concern is my 35mm presentation. The plates are cut based on a test loop (RP-40) and the masking is adjusted according to those specs. It's almost impossible to match perfectly a digital home projector to the exact size of a 35mm presentation. There are a lot of commercial...

    The DIY Screen Masking Thread

The majority of what we screen and stream is 2:35 but I have side moveable masking that can be set for anything between 2:35 and 1:85. I'm very lucky that with my throw at 20 feet my Epson 5010 will zoom to any AR and fit my screen perfectly. At 2:35 the zoom is all the way out for the largest...
