I've been told that quite a few times by Sony and JVC folks and quite a few others that are pretty expert on how encoding works. A lot of image bits at 4K are repeated and would logically encode and compress well. It certainly is logical that 4 times the image size would not result in an...- Kosty

There are better codecs that can fit more onto an 50GB disc and in general 4K does not take up four times the space as 1080p even using MPEG4.- Kosty
