I was reasonably happy to have Uhura exit the program as a cadet, and would hope that the producers avoid too many more intersections with the Kirk-Enterprise crew. These stories can survive on their own with random crew-people that we don't know. We already know too much about Pike's future...
I'm not sure when DISCOVERY is due to return, but I noticed something today that I thought deserved a mention.
While checking the audio in my system, I needed to check the streaming source (Roku) to see how it sounded with the speakers that I moved around a bit. So I picked DISCOVERY Season One...
That was my feeling as well. With just 10 episodes, it's way too early to delve into "something different". The only positive is that we've pretty much ended the Rukiya story on a positive note.
Worst teasers ever were on THE FUGITIVE, seasons 2 through 4, where they actually played a two or three minute clip of the upcoming show - and always at the part of the episode where Kimble is threatened. Those "teasers" were what we now call "spoilers".
There was a bit of recent discussion about episode 2 of THE FUGITIVE, "The Witch". This episode has a bit of a love/hate relationship going on, as many "adult" series with kids as a primary focus tend to get lower marks. In this one. Young Gina Gillespie chews through the scenery in much of this...
There were actually five of those edited-together TV "movies", but no station in Philly ever aired them, so, to-date, I've not seen one. The closest I've come is that someone uploaded to Youtube the beginning of one of them called "Aliens From Another Planet". It's my understanding that all five...
Though I was quick to quibble with ScottRE on page one of this thread, I never really answered the main question of this thread, though it does somewhat relate to that old post.
First and foremost, my all-time, have-to-have-it series on DVD (and Blu) is THE TIME TUNNEL. I watched the series as...
As watchers of the three Dick Wolf "FBI" series currently running on CBS, I was amused by the WAY-different pacing of the 50-minute Zimbalist series VS what we get on the 42-minute CBS show.
On the CBS show, everyone speaks extremely fast and every line has some bit of information important to...
Thank you for that. It's been forever as I said since I've seen one of those. I just watched the pilot, which was very different from the usual episodes as I recall. It played up a romance aspect with Zimbalist and Dina Merrill. I don't recall too much of that kind of stiff in the series...
I haven't seen any episodes since the early 1970s, so would love to re-unite with it. It's never rerun on TV, it's not streaming, and the DVDs are too expensive.
Agreed on all counts. Very good start to the season.
Big Deep Space Nine connection with Wallace Shawn (Grand Nagus Zek) and Andrea Martin (Moogie), two of the Ferengi contingent.
I really wish THE FBI was priced more reasonably. Those ridiculous prices of around $40-50 a half season are nightmarish to those of us on fixed incomes.
I was trying to rack my rapidly fading brain as to where VOYAGER started. I guess the situation was that VOYAGER was indeed on the UPN network, and Channel 29 dropped DS9 before it was finished, so the latter half of the series ran on the UPN channel in syndication - in stereo.
Heh! This sound decoding situation kind of takes me back.
1987 - STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION was about to debut. It was, as STAR TREK always tried to do, going to utilize the very latest technology and provide stereo sound. Well, I lived the Philly area, and the station that picked up the...
I want to stop here to also congratulate joshEH on his new job opportunity, but as we often only associate our member-friends with their avatars, I do hope that josh won't be treating the middle school kids with:
Or then again, maybe some middle-school kids might need that! :)
Seriously -...
OMG! Is Hulu still not fixed after all these years?
We bought a Sony "Smart" TV in 2012 and were given a one-year subscription to both Netflix and Hulu. I stretched it out so that we started the Hulu subscription later than the Netflix, but it was sometime in the 2013 - 2014 time frame. On...
I'm loving STRANGE NEW WORLDS. It's an absolute delight to "tune in" each week and I really look forward to it.
Now, that said, I guess I have a few nitpicks, mostly about the recent "Spock Amok."
- Ethan Peck has a somewhat 'clipped' way of speaking that often makes his dialog hard to...
I'm probably the only one on the planet who would consider what I'm about to post as a problem.
I've always been a credit watcher, and it drives me a bit crazy when a streaming show reduces its credits, telling me what's coming up in 24 seconds, and I have to press buttons to restore the...
I don't have a problem if the ship is all cleaned up in the next episode. That's a function of episodic story telling. But yeah, if a throwaway line about refreshing at a starbase is tossed in, that would be welcome.
Back in the early 70s, STAR TREK in syndication was a big deal. Stations that aired it, routinely scheduled in the 6p-8p dinnertime hours and many watched it before, after, or during their evening meal. It felt a bit odd to me that, for example my parents, who hadn't cared a whit about STAR TREK...
It's not all that important. Just something I took note of and logged a minor grievance in my head. Obviously, as in most things, there are "experts" out there to counter any opinions I might have. Just drop it and enjoy the series. I knows I will.
