Anyone have any experience with these things? Do they work or are they snake oil? http://www.lentek.com/Main/Main.asp?...&ContentID=37& http://www.lentek.com/Main/Main.asp?...&CategoryID=3& Just wondering...
I was just in Futureshop tonight, and they had the "How to Steal a Million" DVD on the shelf. It was 5 minutes to closing, so I decided to buy it. When I got to the cashier, she told me I couldn't buy it until tomorrow! Being a non-confrontational type of guy, I meekly nodded my head and...
In the background of the episode menus, you can see the famous scene where Archie's in his robe and he points his finger to his temple (as if it was a gun) while listening to Edith ramble on as usual: The scene is also pictured on the inner sleeve where Archie has just "pulled the...
Is there a website that lists the differences between the original and 1942 releases of this great movie? I can't find any. I watched the 1925 version and loved it. I started to watch the 1942 version but could not stand the narration. I understand from this review that there are other...
This year is looking to be a great year for my DVD collection. The Star Wars OT has just been announced, and Schindler's List and City Lights are just around the corner. However, several "must have" unannounced titles are still missing from my collection, and it appears that it will remain...
Does anyone know the name of this song and the artist who performed it? It's from the 9/11 documentary. I've heard it only once or twice before but was never able to catch the name of the tune or who sang it. Here's a brief snippet in mp3 format: Click to listen Thanks in advance! :)
I never thought I'd see a high-end stereo magazine review an MP3 device. The October 2003 issue of Stereophile magazine gives the iPod a glowing review: http://www.stereophile.com/showarchives.cgi?934 :emoji_thumbsup:
I just bought a single processor, 1.25 GHz PowerMac G4 and am loving it. I bumped up the RAM to 1.25 GB right away and am enjoying learning about OS X. Anyway, I noticed that when playing DVDs in OS 9 (my PowerMac is OS 9 bootable), layer changes are seamless. When playing the exact same DVDs...
Don't know if this has been posted here before but in case it hasn't: Starship Dimensions It's a pretty fascinating site for all you geeks out there!
On one of the computer forums I often visit, we were discussing the sound quality of mp3s. I posted that mp3s were not as good as CDs, and that a good, high-end vinyl/turntable setup would sound even better than a CD player. Well, I basically got laughed off the board, probably because the...
According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, my car (a '95 Dodge Neon), rates a "P" for Poor... :frowning: I know these tests are not perfect, nor are they all-conclusive (they only perform a 40 mph frontal offset crash test) but... how does your vehicle rate? Vehicle Safety...
Anyone know much about the Samsung DVD-HD931 DVD player? What are some of its unique features and why would these be of benefit to me? I have a Sony KV-36XBR450 direct-view HDTV-ready TV with analog component inputs (480i/489p/1080i).
I saw this movie about 7 years ago on VHS and loved it. Does anyone have the DVD? Is the picture quality good, and is it 16:9 enhanced? I couldn't find any reviews of the DVD online...
Well, part of my DVD wishlist has come true. There is now a DVD of the Olympic 2002 gold medal hockey game between Canada and the U.S.A.: Hockey Gold Medal 2002 It's $22.99 at A&B Sound right now. Now, if only they could also release the '76 and '87 Canada Cup series on DVD...
When the heck was this announced? I must have been away. I even made a petition about it (can't find the thread now since the search function is overloaded). Anyway, I'm glad it will finally be released next week, and there's already a review...
Don't know if this has been posted here before, but if it has, I'll post it again because it's interesting... All Time Box Office Dometsic Grosses Adjusted for Ticket Price Inflation
Someone named "purplechoe" over at the DVD Talk Forum claims he has an anamorphic R1 version of Universal's Vertigo (with the old orange colored cover): http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=222694 Can someone explain this? Does he have a bootleg Vertigo? He says his DVD player is...
I saw Shaw's HDTV set-top box at Futureshop today. It's $589.00 and uses your cable line instead of a dish. Anyone have this yet? How many channels of HDTV content are available? Can you rent the box instead? So far, I can't find any info on Shaw's website yet...
Is the 17" LCD iMac's screen good enough for watching DVDs for an extended period of time? Is the frame rate fast enough for live action movies? Or is there ghosting? Also, how is the contrast ratio? Is the eMac (CRT) better for DVD viewing? If anyone has any experience with one, post...
How does the bitrate of "Monsters, Inc." compare between the Canadian and U.S. versions? Since the Canadian disc contains only the widescreen version, does it have a higher bitrate than the U.S. version, which has both 1.33:1 and widesceen versions on the same disc? Just curious...
Ron, Just wondering if you ever considered putting all your excellent software reviews in one dedicated section. This way, all the reviews would be indexed and easy to find (sort of like Obi's Reviews). Right now, sometimes the user has to go through pages of search results before finding one...
I posted a similar question elsewhere but didn't get a response, probably due to the my poor subject title. Anyway, when calibrating and viewing DVDs using a progressive scan player hooked up to a HD-ready direct-view CRT TV via component cables, should I turn the enhanced black level control...
On the disc, it tells you to turn off enhanced black mode on your DVD player before performing the video calibrations. I've always understood that you should have this on when using component inputs. I have a progressive scan DVD player (Panasonic DVD-RP82) and a direct-view TV (KV-36XBR450)...
I might be moving to another city in the next few months. I have a 5 year-old townhouse that I'm still making mortgage payments on (about 10 more years to go in my payments). I cannot rent out the place, and even if I could, I wouldn't, since I'd be moving a few thousand miles away. If I sell...
Wow! A new 4-disc set that has all 8 games of the 1972 Hockey Summit Series between Canada and the USSR uncut. Approximately 19 hours long. $34.99 at FutureShop.
I bought the '72 Summit Series on tape for my brothers a few years ago, but I have never, ever watched them. Plus, I was too young...
Anyone else got 'em? You know, those things in your eyes that float around when you look at the sky, for example. When you try to look at them directly, they sometimes dart away.
I've got several of them, and I've had them ever since I can remember...
I just picked up the A Beautiful Mind DVD in widescreen, and nowhere on the back does it say it's anamorphic or enhanced for widescreen/16:9 TVs (I haven't opened it yet). It just says "1.85:1 Widescreen."
Can somebody confirm if this is indeed anamorphic? (Note: mine is the Canadian version...
