Denon announces $1,100 9.2-channel IMAX Enhanced receiver

I guess I vaguely recall coming across those menus when I got the AV7703. I was surprised to see such extensive info. Since then, I've just used the regular OSD to verify the incoming channels and format. Of course, that system doesn't have any 4K, so further info isn't much of a factor. I'm...

Denon announces $1,100 9.2-channel IMAX Enhanced receiver

That's good to hear. Something was definitely wrong. As far as displaying audio info, I use the OSD, which is the "Display" button on the remote, as I recall. You might have to reassign a button on your Elite. I assigned it to the "Info" button for the device, and put a soft button at the...

Denon announces $1,100 9.2-channel IMAX Enhanced receiver

It's having trouble locking onto the audio, which I've found has gotten more common as the soundtrack options get more complicated. Still, it shouldn't do that. Mine don't, though they can take a few seconds to lock on and un-mute the audio. I have noticed that the angle of the remote seems a...

Denon announces $1,100 9.2-channel IMAX Enhanced receiver

Another thought, I did have to switch the audio output on my Oppo from Auto to something specific. I found immersive soundtracks often played in 7.1 until I made that change.

Denon announces $1,100 9.2-channel IMAX Enhanced receiver

That doesn't sound right. I've never had that happen, except occasionally when I play an MKV file that has a Atmos/DTS:X soundtrack. I have updated all my hdmi cables to certified Monoprice models.

Denon announces $1,100 9.2-channel IMAX Enhanced receiver

When I got my AV7703, I was torn regarding the display. It's too far away in my HT to read the little porthole info, so at first I tended to leave the door open so I could see the large display, which the 6013 doesn't have. Then I realized when I was curious, I could just check the on-screen...

Denon announces $1,100 9.2-channel IMAX Enhanced receiver

I can definitely see that, maybe with a little higher threshold to 13 channel processing. The 1xxx series might just stay 5 channels to keep it cheap, and the 2xxx being 7, possibly with 9 channel processing. 9/11 for the 3xxx and 4xxx with the higher models going 9/13... or more.

Denon announces $1,100 9.2-channel IMAX Enhanced receiver

Good. I saw that price drop a day or two after you ordered it, but I didn't want to mention it, since I figured it was too late. Do you have it yet?

Denon announces $1,100 9.2-channel IMAX Enhanced receiver

The 3600 actually seems like an overshoot for exactly that reason. Maybe they have some significant upgrades planned for the higher models.

Denon announces $1,100 9.2-channel IMAX Enhanced receiver

Agreed. Sam and I tend to get heated, but it's usually about photography. Or external amps. Or movies. OK, Sam and I argue a LOT. We always have. I tend to take things personally when I should't. Anxiety tends to kick in at obnoxious times.

Denon announces $1,100 9.2-channel IMAX Enhanced receiver

No, they do not. At least get your facts straight. The 3500 is 7 channels... period. In addition, the Audyssey appears to be the same (MultEQ XT32), and the 3600 weighs about 3 lbs more than the 3500. ...and what does the press release have to do with anything? It's poorly written. What...

Denon announces $1,100 9.2-channel IMAX Enhanced receiver

Sam, bottom line, undeniable fact. This model went from 7 channel drive, 7 channel processing to 9 channel drive, 11 channel processing. It is positively unfathomable to me how that could ever be considered an insignificant upgrade, even if nothing else changed with the unit. Go ahead arguing...

You can do that? Can you change your mind and cancel the order later, but before you pick it up?

Denon announces $1,100 9.2-channel IMAX Enhanced receiver

Apparently Denon PR is posting as you on HTF. Better look into that, Sam. :D I never was referring to anything in Denon's marketing. I was clearly referring to your comment, since I quoted it. Anyway, might as well move along.

Denon announces $1,100 9.2-channel IMAX Enhanced receiver

You wouldn't go wrong with either one, but for me at the moment, I'm sure I'd go with the 6013, but that's largely because I'm kind of in the Marantz universe. Not that there's a big difference in the functionality between the brands. Hopefully you can get a 6013 for the same or less than a...

Denon announces $1,100 9.2-channel IMAX Enhanced receiver

That's fine an dandy Sam, but the fact remains, the 3600 is a massive upgrade from the 3500. It's far from a minor spec bump. Not even close. If someone has no interest in the improvements in the 3600, that's one thing, but the 3600 is more on par with the previous 4xxx series.

Denon announces $1,100 9.2-channel IMAX Enhanced receiver

I've been on an upgrade kick on the living room system, and I've been tempted with the bedroom. Marantz also has new models coming out, and I think I want to keep within the D&M universe for some consistency, so I'm deciding between models. The head units in the other systems are Marantz...

What I find is $550 for refurb and $700 new for the 3500.

Denon announces $1,100 9.2-channel IMAX Enhanced receiver

BTW, the 3600 is hardly a "very minor spec bump" considering it processes 11 channels and has 9 amp channels, vs 7 channels, period, on the 3500. That's a HUGE step up.

    It's $999 on Fry's web site.

I had seen them, but they seem to have disappeared at that price. Are you still finding them? Where?
