Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 vs Logitech Z-2300?

CNET gives these two systems top marks for PC speakers. I'm in need of something for listening to MP3's on (Rhapsody music service to be precise). Has anyone been able to compare the two or can anyone comment on either? Thanks, Mark

So tell me a little bit about VALIUM

    Valium should do good then.

So tell me a little bit about VALIUM

Xanax and Klonopin are the most potent benzodiazepines. Xanax is very fast acting and leaves your system quickly, klonopin takes a few hours to kick in and has a half life of 36hrs IIRC. Valium is weaker than Xanax or Klonopin. If you really want to sleep, ask your doc for a small dose (a...

Cleaning a garage floor (varnish/paint removal)

OK, I am taking it upon myself to do a remodel of my parent's garage. My older siblings (and maybe occasionally my father) are responsible for some fairly significant paint and, worse, polyurethane drips, stains, spills etc. The garage is just your normal concrete floored garage, nothing...

    Austin soldering gurus??

After 4 months at my new job, I am a soldering guru. TSSOP's fear me. I can fix these for you guys next time I am in Austin, assuming all it is is bad solder joints and not bad components.

TC Sounds CES Preview - New Uber-subs to be released

TC Sounds just announced on their website the release of new subs that will be shown at CES. Anyone going might want to hit their booth. They've got photos of the prototypes they will be taking on their website. Here's a pic of the larger one:

    Austin soldering gurus??

Yep, big caps, resistors, and TO-220's. Should be easy to fix once you find the bad joints. Finding the bad joints will be the hard/tedious job, but you won't screw anything up by looking. Bribe a few of us with pizza and beer (or better, freebirds and soda) and we could probably take care of it...

    Austin soldering gurus??

Different types of transistor packages are easier/harder to solder. DIPs (dual in-line package) are like op-amps and stuff, their pins are on 0.1" centers IIRC. Some stuff has pins that get much closer together (like microcomputers and such). Surface mount (SMT) have no pins, rather a pad of...

    Adcom GFA-555MKII for sale

These are great amps. I've got a 555mkII for my sub amp / power testing amp. They don't recommend it, but I've bridged it into 4 ohms for over 800 watts before, passively cooled (no fan). Probably better used as a stereo amp or bridged into 8 ohms only, but still, monster amp for the price.

    NCAA Football 2007 Season

Texas will be good for sure, but we're going to lose to Ohio State, just because we have a freshman quarterback and it's what, the 2nd game of the season? Not downing our QB's at all, but our NC team with Vince just squeaked by them last year. It would make me damn proud to be a UT alum if we...

    NCAA Football 2007 Season

Franchione is lucky their non-conference is weak :) He'd better be shooting for 8 or more wins this season. I was reading an article (at ESPN I think) where they were talking about how OU was in for some trouble given the loss of their QB, but it ended by saying "At least Dennis Franchione is...

Friend needs to sell some AWESOME SUBS!!!

Hey guys, I've got an online buddy who needs to sell some woofers. He's a well known fellow in the audio world but doesn't have the time right now to advertise or sell this due to a move, so I'm doing the advertising for him. It's an 18" TC Sounds unit that he had custom built. 35mm xmax...

Austin HD DVD vs DVD meet. Sat. Aug. 5th. Who's in?

COUNT ME IN!!! Sounds like a great time. I can bring some extra XBOX controllers if need be, I even have a wireless one. Also would be happy to donate some money to poker. Should I bring some folding chairs? Also, can I bring my puppy? She is very submissive, so no aggression problems...

Anytime Saturday is fine for me, though I am probably leaving town after the dipole trip. Is this mostly 60Hz hum or are there other noise issues due to a bad ground?

Hank, Yep, I'm just about to reply to it. I was about to tear down my machine last night and right before I powered down the email came in. I had the machine torn apart last night for maintainence (I've now installed 2GB dual channel ram, DVD-RW drive, 3 Zalman case fans, Zalman 700 series...

[Austin Meet] The end of an era.

I'm the fat dude in the blue shorts :) Parker: I'm trying to host a DIY Audio (mostly speaker builders) get-together sometime this fall. So far we have 46 people from around the state interested in attending. If you'd like I can put you on the email list we have for distributing information...

Hey Austin Texas Buddies? Can anyone help me out?

I'd imagine it'd kick the crap out of the Barco on video material, especially HD. Now film on the other hand, I am not so sure about. That will be the real test.

    Major issue with DIY speaker

Can you post the schematic? .62mH on the woofer sounds small, probably needs a lot more baffle step compensation and tweeter padding.

My worst offender is my GPU cooler, the stock unit on a 6600GT is absolutely sucky. Everything else seems equally bad but not as horrible as the GPU fan. Since most of my actual work on the machine is memory intensive and not so much CPU intensive, I'm going to dual channel DDR and dropping FSB...

    Austin DIY HT Projects

I have decided to replace the power supply instead of modifying the power supply fans. Caps blowing up aren't my idea of a good system. After perusing the SPCR, I've decided on the Seasonic S12-330 unit. Does anyone like/dislike this choice? I really have no need for anything over 200w really, a...

    Austin DIY HT Projects

Hey guys, I'm working on the computer again, and have some questions (sorry for the post length - you quiet PC aficionados and acoustics guys might like this though). 1) I need to quiet down my case. I mean I need it really, really quiet, not for personal preference but because my...
