Agreed. I find them annoying. Many times they arrive with damaged corners and then they are always a pain to put back on. It always wants to catch on the plastic covering of the Blu Ray case. I don't understand the attraction to them at all
Wasn't the 1st release from WHV and then the 2nd from WAC? I meant I don't think they ever redid a previous release of their own release as would be the case with Horror of Dracula.
Have WAC ever done a re-issue of a title they previously released? I'm thinking no. Seems like there are way too many classics for them to release for the 1st time before they would start double dipping.
I can see them doing both of those shows on blu. Hopefully if they do Huck that can release the unreleased season 2 and 3 that never got a DVD release due to catalog music rights issues.
Lippy the Lion was the last 1950-'s-early 80's HB title released on DVD and that was back in August 2019 so it appears they have moved on from DVD. They haven't released any new DVD titles of any kind since 2020. So I think the only hope of more unreleased HB titles will be on Blu Ray after they...
Ice Palace was a great find. Wac released it around 10 years ago but only shipped it for a few days before it was quickly discontinued due to some rights issue. I wish I would have ordered it then as I enjoy the movie and used to own it on VHS although pan and scan. Its so rare and almost never...
No inside info but I would be shocked if it were only 2 releases. Considering its been 6-8 even with holidays coming up I would expect at least 2 more.
I think the difference is how big the title is, how well it sold on DVD to make the restoration expense feasible. Hanging tree is the only one that would be in the same group as Pharaohs and Helen. The other 3 are pretty big titles.
I would much prefer Ivanhoe, Knights of the Round table, Scaramouche or The Three Musketeers (1948) over those 2 but hopefully they all come out eventually. Pharaohs and Helen both need a lot of work to meet HD and WAC standards.
I definitely would buy Scaramouche and Ivanhoe in a Heartbeat as well As Knights of the Round Table, King Solomons Mines and The Three Musketeers (1948) but I would pass on Helen of Troy and Land of the Pharaohs.
How is Objective Burma obscure or a curious choice? It was an A title from Warner Brothers when released. Received good reviews when released and gets really good reviews in film guides. Its been released on every previous home video format and plays on TCM regularly. 3 years ago they released...
It figures since I just watched the DVD of Objective Burma last month that they release that one out of all the Errol Flynn movies. But I'm happy to be getting more Flynn on Blu Ray and it is a good movie.
Also excited by The Herculoids. I will get Take me out to the Ballgame eventually.
I would definitely be on the following mentioned:
King Solomons Mines
Scaramouche
Ivanhoe
The Three Musketeers
The Naked Spur
All would look great on Blu with new remasters.
Do we have any confirmation that all 9 of these are coming in May? In the past year they have announced multiple month releases a couple times. So these could be May and June releases.
I'm in for Escape from Fort Bravo, Drunken Master 2 and Bachelor in Paradise.
There are at least 20 Errol Flynn...
No doubt WAC sales are down like all disc sales but Warner is a business and if discs are not making a profit they would not do it. WAC is a catalog label much like Kino, Shout, Criterion, Arrow, Eureka, Indicator and several others. They are all making money or they wouldn't do it. WAC had...
I would say Warner knows their titles pretty well after having previously sold the majority of them on VHS, Laserdisc and DVD. This and condition of the materials has a lot to do with what titles they release so I don't think its hollow at all. I think the idea the WAC somehow doesn't know what...
Sounds to me like a good answer for the people that keep complaining when they release musicals and claiming they won't sell as well as this movie or that movie would.
At this point we would be lucky to get all 6 of the MGM Weismuller Tarzans. I would be surprised if we don't get at least half of them. But the 5 he did for RKO and the 5 Barker films seem like long shots when you take into account that is 16 films. Which would probably be at least 4 years...
