    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

The following link post contains two links which talks about one issue that was fixed and reissued with a corrected disc and the second issue that has never been addressed. https://www.hometheaterforum.com/community/threads/a-few-words-about-tm-the-bishops-wife-in-blu-ray.327474/post-4808111

Only WAC can answer those questions.

My Blu-ray came out in 2013. I'm not sure Warner's agreement with the Samuel Goldwyn Home Entertainment is still active. Edit: Warner Archive released a second Blu-ray of "The Best Years of Our Lives" another Goldwyn title in December, 2020. Why they didn't do the same with "The Bishop's...

    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

For me, I grouped that issue as the same with the overall troubled teens angle. I have to get in a certain mood to watch "Rebel" today. However, I can watch segments of "Giant" at any time.

    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

IMO, Giant would be a better seller because of the three movie stars in it and the movie being the last Dean film. Frankly, I find "Rebel Without a Cause" a cringe-worthy viewing now. It hasn't aged well for me.

    More stars in Giant.

    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

That is unfortunate because I see 3-D not coming back and more 4K titles without Blu-rays in them to reduce costs and final sale prices.

    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

I hope those collectors realize that initial discounted sale price for "Giant" is going to be about $9.00 cheaper than "Singin' in the Rain" and that's due to no Blu-ray for the most part, but also no slip cover.

I don't agree with your pessimism as it takes time to rebuild an organization that was torn apart. Give it some time!

    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

Those interested in seeing more Warner titles released on Blu-ray and 4K discs need to listen to this podcast with George Feltenstein. He talks about reduced staff issues which has affected their output of titles in the first half of 2022. Also, that more classic movies are possibly heading to...

It was more than just the layoffs as WA was on life support.

    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

I'm not a big Judy Garland nor musical fan, but I will be purchasing "The Clock" as I always found it to be a fine film with Robert Walker, James Gleason and Keenan Wynn.

I wouldn't exactly call 48 HRS. a social film about race relations. It's a good movie, but I like Lethal Weapon more as a film.
  15. Robert Crawford

    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

Frankly, looking back on 48 HRS., it doesn't look good as far as race and America so I'm not sure that is a positive for the movie.
  16. Robert Crawford

    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

That’s a matter of opinion as to 48 HRS being superior to Lethal Weapon.

If it happens then I suspect it would be Warner Home Video release.

The Carey Treatment's release date is May 10th. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde's release date is May 17th.

IMO, the reduction in release output is proof that WAC future was in doubt. We should be thankful it's been revived again with George Feltenstein. Patience and purchasing support are required going forward.

I’m just saying the Blu-ray releases are significant upgrades over their prior DVD releases. As to your complaint, you don’t have to make it clearer to me as I don’t have any opinion about it to begin with.

    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

I think you’re missing the point of some of the criticism because it’s not about the age of the films. As to American Flyers, it’s okay and I like it, but not nearly as good as Breaking Away.
  24. Robert Crawford

    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

How you spend your monies is none of my business. However, just about all of the WAC Blu-ray releases are significant upgrades over their prior DVD releases because they’re derived from new scans.

    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

These two Costner movies are showing April 12th as the release date. Again, I hope George Feltenstein doesn't take our critical comments personally, but two minor 1985 movies starring Kevin Costner, is not something we expected from them. I expected more classic "Golden Age of Hollywood"...
  26. Robert Crawford

    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

Yeah, I said my piece in this post. I hope George doesn't take it personally, but it's disappointing to say the least.
  27. Robert Crawford

    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

It's strange that WAC would release two Costner movies in the same month on Blu-ray, yet won't do the same for some of the film icons from the Golden Age of Hollywood. I don't get it, especially with Fandango or American Flyers not being really popular titles to begin with.
  28. Robert Crawford

    Warner Archive Announcements Thread

I don't think they're part of Warner Archive as Warner Archive Collection isn't mentioned anywhere on the 4K cases. Furthermore, George Feltenstein has publicly stated that Warner Archive hasn't release a 4K title yet. We all know these retailer sites from time to time, do post erroneous...
