Cagney was a great song and dance man but he predated Rex in the sprechstimme fach. In fact I would say even Rex sang more than Cagney did in his musicals.
Marvin's Wandrin Star is sui generis. Clint Eastwood's I talk to the Trees which he actually sings is just poor. It's like a really bad...
Well I didn't forget them really I was just noting his mastering of so many genres. They are among the very best in them. Like John Houston directs for the screen a surefire can't miss musical and turns it into a calamity.
Same for me. I saw parts of it on TV and found it as bad as they say. Then I saw an original roadshow print in 6 track and I thought it was a lot of fun. I especially like the male chorus which is magnificent under Nelson Riddle and in no way can be duplicated on the stage.
I still have no idea how one director did;
Counselor at Law
The Little Foxes
Can we get a 4k of Bite the Bullet which looked so great on the screen at Radio City?
