Although I have no interest in either of these two movies, I always thought the point of Warner Archive was to release items of lower popularity to those fans that are interested. "Minor" Kevin Costner films, Golden Age classics, cartoons, and TV series would all fall under that category. Some...

I care what Strohmaier says. He, along with Robert Harris and George Feltenstein, are my heroes when it comes to bringing classic films to a modern audience.
I am sure Mr. Feltenstein has his hands full getting the Warner Archive Collection back on track, but I hope at some time he can resume the wonderfully informative podcasts he and his former colleagues used to make.
I believe that the Archive crew did interface with us years ago, but abuse by trolls put an end to that. They instead had their late, lamented podcast, where they could control the interplay with the customers via reading fan mail.
No argument from me about their quality. Just concerned about future releases, given the upheaval at Warner Archive, and more recently, at WarnerMedia itself.
I'm not sure about that. The Archive's consumer base is probably in large part made up of classic film collectors such as myself, who already own versions of these films in some form or another. Knowing that a favorite classic has been remastered (and in some cases, "reassembled" from the...
The Amazon site is still a mess. While they finally got the title of BROADWAY MELODY OF 1940 correct so you can at least find it, the listing still shows the incorrect cast and director.
I'm a bit off-topic, but your comments rang true for me yesterday. While driving yesterday, I started Amazon Music on my Apple CarPlay, and a bunch of my downloaded music was "no longer available". While I hadn't paid extra for the songs thanks to Amazon Prime, it did remind me of the...
That reminds me of the time Paramount released SAMSON AND DELILAH only on DVD. I thought that was an error, but after a few months, gave up and bought the DVD. Of course, soon thereafter they released a Blu-Ray, but at that point I was so pissed off that I didn't upgrade, despite being a...
I just received an email announcing the new Warner Bros. shop.
https://wbshop.com/
Interestingly, there is no direct link to the Warner Archive, nor to purchase media. However, if you think to click on the TCM Shop link and know the specific title you want, you can purchase it...
It would seem to be easily proven. The less talented executives focus more on quarterly earnings to make their compensation incentive benchmarks, whether or not their actions cause long-term damage to the company. Maybe because of that, they also seem to be the ones who don't stay long at a...
While I was disheartened to learn about the layoff of Mr. Feltenstein, I am equally concerned about the fate of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Imaging. Maintaining and monetizing a corporation's legacy and intellectual properties would seem to be a no-brainer, but "no brains" seems to be a mission...
While I would love to upgrade some of my DVDs to Blu-Rays or UHD, my priority is for films that have never been on home video. Amazingly, I have only two films on my all-time wish list that have never been released on home video at all: the 1972 THE GREAT WALTZ and the 1959 PORGY AND BESS...
Which is why Mr. Feltenstein's dismissal is so incredibly short-sighted on the part of AT&T. As I mentioned above, I was first introduced to Mr. Feltenstein's work in the laserdisc era. What laserdiscs, DVDs, Blu-Rays, UHD discs, iTunes, and now streaming services all have in common are the...
I wrote Mr. Feltenstein a letter with my admiration and requests way back in his MGM/UA Home Video days. To my shock, a couple of weeks later an envelope with Leo the Lion in the return address came my way. He had written me a personal response to my letter. I mentioned that in an email to him...
In my experience, both Araca Merchandise L.P. (WB Shop) and DirectToU, LLC (shop.TCM.com) are both difficult to deal with. Maybe now that AT&T owns WarnerMedia, they can look into fixing these issues with their contractors.
