WINGS got a blue ray in 2012. Judging from the restoration, I don’t think it could get a 4k, despite it’s importance.
WINGS on Blu ray is as good as it will get… and it’s incredible!
AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS, BOYS TOWN, CAPTAINS COURAGEOUS, CIMARRON, THE GOOD EARTH, THE GREAT ZIEGFELD, THE LIFE OF EMILE ZOLA, LITTLE WOMEN (1933), MR. CHIPS (1939), TEST PILOT, TONY ADVERSE, TRADER HORN (But only if they can get the bonus TRADER HORN: THE JOURNEY BACK)...
Basically any...
Listened to THE EXTRAS podcasr with Tim Millard and George Feltenstein, and George said he is trying to get ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD released on 4K UHD. Wouldn't THAT be something?
One of the things I despise the most about this production is the butchering of Puck's most famous lines: (From memory)
Captain of our fairy band;
Helena is here, at hand;
And the youth, mistook by me,
Pleading for a lover's fee.
Will we their fond pageant see?
Lord what fools these mortals be...
Don't. It's terrible. It's my favorite Shakespeare play, and they BUTCHERED it. Mickey Rooney as Puck was horribly miscast. They cut important lines and scenes to save time. The only good thing about it is the Oscar-winning Cinematography. Olivia De Havilland is decent.
No, I chose to ignore it. I am going to remain optimistic that BROADWAY MELODY, DISRAELI, and other 20's gems will be released.
THE THIN MAN was a good example because they did, eventually, release the sequels. I'm optimistic that more Melodies will come out. Maybe not right away, but...
Why would there be anything yet? Why not? Warner’s released THE THIN MAN, followed by its sequels in short order. No reason not to think they might do the same with the BROADWAY MELODY series.
BROADWAY MELODY is a best picture winner, a great reason to release it. It does need a lot of work...
I’ll take ANYTHING Best Picture nominated, or acting award winner.
Especially the rare stuff from the ‘20s/‘30s.
DISRAELI, TRADER HORN, ZIEGFELD, GOOD EARTH, TEST PILOT, CAPTAIN BLOOD, etc, or William Wellman films.
