Here's the response from Oppo regarding when new firmware with this fix included might be rolled out:
At the moment, we can't say when the fix will be included in an official firmware as we just released a firmware not too long ago.

Something like that. My problem is that it's malfunctioning when set to Auto, which is where I've had it since the feature was available and which I believe is the default setting. The only thing that's changed in my setup is the Oppo firmware. Thanks for checking!
Updated my 203 to the new firmware last night and it appears that Dolby Vision output is now broken. If I have DV set to Auto or Player-led, I get VERY off-color output that's terribly pixelated. If I have DV set to TV-led it looks fine. Time to file a bug report.
Anyone else experienced this...
Looks like Oppo is releasing a firmware update for the UDP-203/205 that will give both players HDR10+ support, sometime in late December or early January:
I don't utilize the analog audio side of the 203 so it's a moot point for me. All audio is bitstreamed to my Yamaha RX-A2080 receiver via HDMI, and in that scenario audio from the Oppo and the Panasonic are identical. However, the 820 doesn't have the multichannel analog outputs that 203 has...
I'm with you John. I thought that I might as well sell my 203 since I'm mostly using it for region free Blu-ray playback. Bought a cheap ($160) LG region free player, which looks remarkably good, and posted my 203 for sale on eBay. Within a day I had 24 people watching the auction and one guy...
Interesting info Matt, thanks. I know that initially this ability wasn't available, but it's possible that a subsequent firmware update changed that. I'll have to dig through my setting tonight and see if I can find anything.
As far as 4K uHD players go, the UDP-203 is (IMO) a best-in-class upscaler for 480i/p material. I've yet to find anything that beats it. The Sony UBP-X800 comes close, but the Oppo is still on the top of the heap.
Steve - Yes, the Blu-ray region change is sticky, so if you set the player to Region B you'll need to reset it to Region A when you're done. Also, I believe you're correct about DVD region functionality, but I've never used it so don't know for sure.
