I actually installed this, Dave, but had some problems getting the right aspect ratio out of it. The instructions are a little tricky where you have to set up a "mirror" display in preferences.
Really, I am getting a really nice resolution on my 4k widescreen monitor and I am not...
Yeah, that was me at one point.
Fortunately, Apple fixed the monitor issue in one of its first updates to Big Sur.
So, I have the monitor I always wanted, but at this point, no computer to hook it up to until the MBP release.
Thanks for thinking of me.
That's a nice monitor. Took a look over the specs and Amazon reviewers are calling it an oustanding value.
You mentioned using it with Apple TV 4k was a disaster, but I take it you can use the Apple TV app that comes with Mac OS X and it displays okay?
Peter, that's exactly where I went.
I never even heard of the store before. As I previously mentioned, NOBODY had this monitor in stock. Not BestBuy, Amazon or B&H.
It was a quick "in" and "out" so I barely got to see anything. I just noticed it was a large warehouse. I would have loved...
Good Morning, John!
Thanks for asking
This monitor is everything I had hoped for. From the quality of the graphics to the amount of extra desktop space with no bezels -- I am spending more time at my desk than I ever have before. The reason being I love using this monitor.
I will admit that...
The store I went to was not in a convenient location...at least for me. Convenient for others, I suppose.
It was wild that I found it. Nobody had this monitor. Almost made me suspicious as to why they had it. However, once I was inside the store and grasped the wealth of merchandise they...
A few things about your LG...
First, that's not an Ultrawide. I am sure you are aware of that. I wanted an Ultrawide, absolutely. I had a 55" 4k TV as a monitor for a while and the biggest issue I had with a massive square monitor is the height. Really hurt my neck. As...
I am completely against extended warranties. I never buy them. However, I was very nervous about this purchase after reading all the reviews on Amazon and on Samsung's site. A lot of these monitors have had issues after the return period and Samsung is supposedly very difficult to deal with on...

Yeah, I have a lot of apps.
This just happened. I have a program called LIVING WEATHER which provides a live animated background wallpaper according to the weather.
When I first plugged my Macbook in this was full widescreen (see photos in prior post)...
Just set this up. So far it looks great. Was able to immediately get it into 5120x1440 60Hz
Going to leave the stand on it for now. Not sure I want to fool with the swing arm mount as from reading reviews, it's very hard for one person to mount this. What I saved on the arm swing I made up...
I found a store that actually has 6 of these left
It's about a 50-minute ride for me to the store
I never ordered anything from Micro Center. They seem...
That Samsung monitor seems like a good recommendation. The reviews are very, very good. It doesn't have the extreme curve of the G9 Odyssey, but it has a more pronounced curve over the Dell and LG.
I just hope it has all the necessary specs of being a great productivity monitor...
Excellent. My bad for not reading the specs on included hardware.
So, I just have to drill a single hole down in the desk and clamp it beneath.
This is looking more "do-able" by the minute.
Thanks for the response, John!!
I don't feel comfortable drilling bolts into the top of the desk but that may be the only option if I can't saw the back of the desk. I will have to research bolt sizes with that stand.
Yeah, John, my mind is made up. No LG monitor though it's better due to the IPS. The Dell 49" Ultrawide...
So now we turn to the DIY part of this thread.
I really want that swing arm. I can do it if I cut a hole in the wood backing of my desk to allow for the clamping.
What tool can be used to cut into a 2" wood desk backing while it's erect and supporting the desk?
That's the problem. I have those bezels dead center of my view. I don't have the desk space to move the monitors as you have.
Hopefully someone will have experience with arm mounts to advise whether that will work in my situation.
For those of you still following this (and I sincerely thank you for doing so), I have a question about desk mounted swing arms which I will ask momentarily.
I came very close last night to just buying the LG 49WL95C-W monitor. I could have it next week delivered from Amazon. BestBuy does not...
This has been nothing but a cluster F for me. I find a monitor that, aesthetically, I love and want.
Then you hear that it's not going to serve your productivity purposes as well as an ISP monitor.
So, for the past 45 minutes, I have been reading review after review of the LG...
I see your point, John.
Your advice would be so much easier to digest if I didn't already have two 27" monitors that would be replaced with two of the same sized WQHD monitors. I am more fearful of buying two more dual monitors that I am not happy with rather than a single Ultrawidescreen...
No, absolutely not. I had no problem with your remarks.
I responded to you at the same time you responded to me.
I am just trying to find out if you have more issues with the 49" all-in-one screen (such as the LG IPS monitor) or the extra curvature of the Samsung.
I basically have that now and I am not happy with that setup.
There are many videos from Mac users on the LG 49" UltraWide. It's an IPS monitor that is better for my needs but it doesn't have the curve that I desire.
Other than the fact that is an IPS monitor designed for productivity...
I have no issues with dual monitors and they are already in a "V" configuration that does a nearly simulated wrap around.
I have already reached out to a few reviewers who did early YouTube reviews and they have no issues doing normal productivity work. Trust me, I have been researching this...
