Any chance you can bypass the Denon completely and connect directly to the display? This will allow you to eliminate the Denon or name it as the culprit.
Make sure you’re set to 4K SDR and enable match dynamic range and frame rate. You shouldn’t have any trouble with chroma 4:2:2 either unless your display doesn’t support it. All of my ATV4K boxes are set this way and they all work perfectly.
I think Johnny said it’s a 1st gen 4K TV, Dave, not a regular one. :P
I have seen the same thing on our living room display with two 3rd gen HD units as well as two 1st and two 2nd gen 4K TV units. Using a different hdmi cable and port didn’t make a difference. The display is a 12 year old...
And I might add that the first 5 minutes sound freaking fantastic! Unfortunately, I’ve tried to watch Dune about a half dozen times and keep getting interrupted 5 minutes in and never get back to immediately finishing it.
I still have to reboot my gen 1 AppleTV4K whenever I sync my AirPods with them for private listening. It inserts a 1-2 second audio delay and rebooting the box fixes it.
At least if I don’t like the new remote that comes with my new ATV4Ks on Monday, I can always continue using the silver remotes from the 3rd gen TVs these are replacing.
Over the past year, I’ve become accustomed to the tv 4K remote and don’t mind it so much. My wife still doesn’t care for it so for the tv she usually watches, I replaced the 4K remote with an old silver tv remote and it works just fine. The other 4K box on the tv that I normally watch is still...
Both of my TV 4K units work flawlessly. I get random reboots on my two 3rd gen TV units, which at 8 years old, is understandable. They will both have to be replaced soon (or at least before season 3 of Mandalorian and season 2 of ST Picard premiere) since Disney+ has never been supported on...
Sounds right, Tony. I have two 4K TVs, each with a 4K TV. One of the TVs is several years old and doesn’t support Dolby Vision. The newest one which is in the master bedroom does and identifies as having it enabled whenever the tv is turned on.
The CBS app on all three of my TVs would freeze video but audio would keep playing. Made watching season 1 of Picard a bit painful to watch. This was winter / early spring before we moved so I thought maybe it was just my old lousy internet connection. I can’t check it now because I canceled...
My receiver can use the TOSlink fiber connection from the 3rd gen atv (ancient Yamaha RX-V995) and still works like the day I bought it, and my tv is a 720P Panny plasma so there's no need for me to update to a newer receiver and a 4k atv.
I love my atv3s. I use them regularly for airplay music streaming from iTunes on my MacBook Pro, and I use (weekly if not daily) the YouTube, Amazon, Netflix, and Hulu apps.
