Yeah, those can be kinda cool. But these days I can't toss any slipcases, because I periodically have to sell off a bunch of titles, and eBayer's want the damn things -- they add to the resale value for sure.
I support your requests for 4K's from Warner Bros. proper. Good choices, particularly THE WILD BUNCH. I have little doubt that BARRY LYNDON will go that route, and maybe THE SEARCHERS. GIGI needs a decent remaster, for sure, but I'd settle for a Blu-ray of that.
As for the Archives, I agree...
Oh, but they do....What would you call NATIONAL VELVET, THE THREE MUSKETEERS, FURY, BROTHERS GRIMM, THE NAKED SPUR, STAGE FRIGHT, GASLIGHT, PRINCE OF THE CITY, IVANHOE, EDGE OF DARKNESS, THE WINDOW, MAD LOVE, the remainder of THE THIN MAN series, SUSPICION, GHOST SHIP/BEDLAM, and many others...
Since 4 years ago, 19 of 42 WB titles have been released on Blu; 17 of 41 MGM's and 3 of AA. Total is 39 of 90, or...a whopping 44%! Not bad. Moral of the story: give it time!
Am I alone in this, or does it seem as though WAC announcements have been dormant for a longer than usual time period. 'Course, it could have much to do with Covid and its ancillary horrors and slowdowns/shutdowns/shipping issues. Or maybe it's just my increasingly weird perception of time. Just...
Much as I'd love to see four or more every month, I can actually recall the days years ago when the WAC blu-ray's were coming out one a month, if that. I'm not sure any of us understands how difficult keeping things steady these days must be, with Covid and subsequent short-staffing, and now...
I'd say you can count on the final title in your short list...the last of six, after all. One of your others (THE LAST DINOSAUR) is, I believe, a t.v. movie, although apparently it was intended to be a theatrical, and WAC hasn't been big on those for Blu-ray, although it offer a bunch on DVD. I...
You'd not have included the DMC on your list a year ago. The club is only recently begining to pick up some steam after years of very sporadic and largely crap releases.`Let's hope they now continue to do this good work.
I just re-read my original post of 2018, and counted 33 movies from my list of 92 have come out as Blu-rays since. That's over one-third. And that, of course, if only a fraction of what WAC has released altogether. Rather remarkable. And thanks again to you fellas in the Archives. Wow.
Check the wording of your earlier post. "they'll probably put up three pre-orders a week from this coming Tuesday [which is the 8th], like around the 15th and then three more the week after that. 3+3+3 = 9.
No big deal. But David Norman set this straight by listing all 9 titles, and you were...
I completely agree. I hold this film second only to THE COURT JESTER as Danny Kaye's best comedy/musical. The DVD I own is okay, but if whoever currently owns this could get it out as a decent Blu-ray, that would be great.
Mark-P: Heck, If WAC could get on the ball and co-ordinate identical digital masters released alongside their discs, I’d quit buying their BDs altogether.
Not me. Streaming will never be a preferable format for me over a physical disc, unless "buying" a movie that way can 1) Be permanent...as...
It is very faithful...to the first half of the book. I'm very grateful that Roberty Taylor did not get the lead role. The second half of the book, I am guessing, was going to be the basis of a movie sequel, although it would have been quite dull compared to the first part, which has almost all...
Did I miss something? From where were you able to add SINBAD THE SAILOR to your cart? I have never heard any announcement regarding this title, which I would love to own. Another Million Dollar Movie I watched about ten times in one week when I was young, in black and white with about 40 minutes...
Which is apparently what Paramount is doing with their bare-bones releases. I'm glad they are at least getting stuff out there. Anything to help get the Warner Bros-owned catalog to Blu-ray is ok by me.
