Hey everyone, long time no chat. I hope all is well. Thought I'd pop-in and mention that I have 6 authentic theater seats for sale, plus spare parts for repair. $300 for everything (i.e $50/seat, though I'd rather sell them as a set). If you've been to my place in the last couple of years...
Hey Austinites, I know a lot of you don't actively watch the forum, but are still subscribed to this thread, so I'm cross posting this here--Colin has suggested a get together in September. Anyone interested?

Leroy, If you're going for a 720P LCD, then I'd suggest the Panny, even though I haven't watched that model specifically. The reason I suggest this sight unseen is that at 720p you can still make out screen door effect easily on LCD panels from reasonable viewing distances. The Panasonic...
Robo Elvis Baby...ooohh yeaahhh...groovy! I really missed not going to CES this year. I think I'll definitely hit CEDIA to get my tradeshow fix. Too bad there wasn't more cool stuff to see this time around. As for this weather, I've been in Texas for too long. I actually thought it was...
So, Greg, how was CES? I read a few of the reports and it seems like there wasn't a whole lot of news in the high-end beyond a few more manufacturers getting a clue and integrating pc connectivity into their gear. The mainstream market seems to be marching forward quickly though.
I'm staying home this year. Didn't have real compelling reason to go this time, but I think I probably will hit up CEDIA in September. Let us know all the cool new stuff. I see a lot of the audio gear is in a different location than previous years. I'm curious to hear well the new digs work out...
Are Atoms street legal? They don't have bumpers do they? John, Jen is doing well, I'll tell her you said hi. Glad to hear the curtains worked out with the speakers. Dipoles can be tricky beasts. Scott is still around, but I haven't seen him post in a while, I see at him poker games with Hank...
Hey John, I'm a little delayed in responding to your question, we've been out of the country for the last couple of weeks. I don't know why Paul's message went unanswered; my best guess would be that he inferred in his note that he knew members of the group and everyone was probably expecting...
I haven't tried to attend any of the screenings, but from what I hear you'd better line up early. I was looking at the schedule for this year and there are some screenings I'd like to attend, but I doubt I'll have time.
Thanks for bringing the Panny and Oppo over last night Ken. It takes a huge load off knowing that I won't have to fork out another $4-500 to switch projectors. In short, here's what we found. We used two discs, Battlestar Galactica Season 2 Disc 2, episode "Home Pt 2", and Pirates of...
Looks like we're on for the projector at 8PM at my place. Everyone's welcome. Unfortunately, I have a hard stop at 11PM, but we'll make it quality time :)
Here's what I'd like to do.
1. Play a couple of scenes with known motion artifacts on the HTPC/InFocus
2. Repeat scenes on the...
Hey guys. I don't know if anyone's following this thread anymore, but I need a favor. Would someone who owns a Panasonic AE900 be willing to come over this week and do an A/B comparison to my InFocus IN76? I'm seeing some interesting motion effects here and there that I didn't used to notice as...
Raelene and I just returned from the 48 Hour Film Project screening. If anyone has a free evening tomorrow, I highly recommend you go. It starts at 6:00 at the Arbor Great Hills Cinema. Be there no later than 5:30 if you want a decent seat--there will be a line. There are 24 entries this...
Movie Fest Alert!!!!
Hey guys, a friend of ours is competing in the 48 hour film festival this week, and we just found out we can get advance tickets for $5 each. I know it's totally last minute...but if you want to come with us Tuesday, shoot me an email by 6:30 today and I'll get you a...
Thanks for the invite Cody, but we're booked from this Thursday till New Year's day. Anyone else have big plans for the holiday? BTW, SceneIt is a great party game. I thought I knew a fair amount about movies till I played againt my brother-in-law.
Mike, what's the gore factor on this one? Sounds interesting. Leroy, that's Hank's dry as west Texas humor. Reread Mike's post and you might catch on. We have a strict "no explanations" policy regarding dry humor around here.
If you read the site about DSH, you find out that there is a company trying to purchse it that plans to tear down part of the building! What a shame. The ending of that movie definintely needed help. The shift from good thriller to lame slasher was so sudden that I could pinpoint the moment...
We can't do a movie tonight, have two parties to attend. I might be able to do a movie night during the week, if anyone else is interested. Next Sunday evening is open too. Hank/Humphrey, have you seen Frailty? It might change your minds about modern horror movies. It's up there with The...
Alright, we gotta watch a Halloween movie this year peeps. I vote for the original version of The Fog, or The Serpent and the Rainbow. Who's with me? What night? I'll host if Hank will man the grill for fajitas.
Noise behind you is less distracting than noise in front of you. I wouldn't be interested in an ultra short throw projector unless it was virtually silent.
