Just a little Heads Up for those interested in acquiring some of the many lesser known films released by
Warner Archive in its early years. Try going to Deep Discount, clicking on Studios, then Warner Archive, and
then Price: Low to High. There are quite literally hundred of titles listed at $11...
A little side note: If you go on Amazon and read the comments, 6% give it only One Star. The reason?
"This is horrific! I didn't pay for stills. This is not a movie, it's part movie, part photo montage" etc. etc.
One has to wonder in what world these reviewers live.
I continue to find it worthwhile to check the Amazon list of NEW RELEASES every day. Recently, I've
been able to purchase ATHENA, DINNER AT EIGHT, IN THE GOOD OLD SUMMERTIME and ELIZABETH
AND ESSEX for $13 and change. However, those low prices are sometimes only available for one day.
Just as well. I still have quite a few new releases on my To Buy List. Fortunately, Amazon keeps coming up with new Deals that drop the price WAY down, so I've been able to pick up several during the holidays. And the quality of all of them has been astounding!
Am I correct in remembering that a number of Silent Movie Classics have had brand new soundtracks
attached, and are still waiting for release? Oh, how I wish Warner Archive would go back that far again,
and put them out on Blu Ray.
In the meantime, I'll continue to cherish all the Silent Movie...
Amazon currently has the Warner Archive Blu Ray of THE WINDOW listed for $12.30. It's a Limited Time
Deal, so if you're interested best grab it up now!
I keep waiting for news of a new Warner Archive Sale, although I realize that's probably futile. But who knows? Maybe Amazon will come through with something for Black Friday. Are you listening, Amazon?
I'm currently watching a lot of my old Warner Archive DVDs and then selling them on eBay. My seller name is 15053rd. A currently have 11 WA titles for sale, including the 1931 NEW MOON, SHOW OF SHOWS, COLLEEN, NOBODY'S BABY and MOONLIGHT MURDER, and more get added every week. And of course there...
I know this may sound ignorant, but can one purchase the Warner Archive Blu Rays directly from them these days? I know Amazon sells them, and I regularly check there hoping a title or two might have gone down in price. However, their prices are all over the place, jumping up and down on one...
As regards Warner Archive titles on Amazon, it's worth checking regularly. Everyone once in a while one
will appear at a greatly reduced price. When that happens, grab it, as the price will probably go back up
within a day or two. I'm not sure what the point of that game is, but I have picked up...
Some of the Warner Archive selections on Amazon are costing a lot more now. SAN FRANCISCO is listed
at 22.67 and SHOWBOAT at 28.56. I wonder if they're starting to run short. Both are ones on my To Get
List, but not at these prices!
All good choices listed above. However, I keep hoping for more of the silent classics which have just been sitting there with new film scores awaiting release. Unfortunately, I don't think WBAC is interested in those any more.
While I do look forward to seeing what new Blu-Rays are coming, I'd bet I'm not the only one still working their way through all the great DVDs they bought during the Warner Archive glory days. I think I purchased every silent movie they released, as well as an endless number of sets, such as...
Just put on the Original Broadway Cast Album of DO RE MI, and I'm listening to Nancy Walker
singing "Waiting, waiting". Me too, for the 14 titles I ordered back on March 12. Sigh ...
As regards that astonishing photo of the 42nd Street marquee for CALIGULA which Dick posted, my favorite from that period was for SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER. That was little Johnny's break-out film, following WELCOME BACK, KOTTER, and the marquee read SEE! SEE! SEE! JOHN "BARBARINO" TRAVOLTA ROCK...
In re the new 4 for $44 Sale, Yes! It just started, and I've already ordered 13 from my Wish List. That clears out everything except the most recent items. Great way to start the Holiday Shopping Season. Thanks, Warner Archive!
I got all excited when I saw today's eMail about a Warner Archive 40% Off Fall Sale.
Turned out to be mugs, figurines, clothing and such. I do hope this brings them a
lot of cash, but nothing for me. My wallet heaved a giant sigh of relief.
Does anyone know how to ask the Warner Archive folks a question these days on their Facebook page? I can't find a way to do that any more. Or, I guess I could just ask my question here: Is there any chance that the Joan Crawford
film LETTY LYNTON will ever escape from "Rights Hell" and get a...
So, if you're correct about everything through the end of December 2019 being available during the next sale, it
looks like I may be able to cross the following Blu-Rays off of my list:
THE BAD AND THE BEAUTIFUL / THE FEARLESS VAMPIRE KILLERS / FOOTLIGHT PARADE / GREAT DAY
IN THE MORNING /...
I'm sure the answer to this has already been posted somewhere, but if so I can't find it. The question:
When with Warner Archive resume listing new titles? My guess is this coming Tuesday, January 21.
