    Great feature-length Making-of documentaries & bio-documentaries

My go-to recommendations are always anything directed by Charles de Lauzirika, especially his Ridley Scott documentaries.

Status of George Stevens' "The Greatest Story Ever Told"

I believe everything with Claude Rains was done by Lean. Jean Negulesco also did some second unit shooting. If the Herrick ever reopens, I wanna try to confirm this against Stevens' files there.

    "The Alamo"s Status?

This is making me want to reread my copy of John Farkis' gargantuan book on the making of The Alamo.

A Few Words About A few words about...™ How the West Was Won -- in Blu-ray

That's a big assumption to be making without having any of the documentation to back it up. I'm going to be acquiring budget and cost reports for Cleopatra quite soon from the producer's archive at the Wisconsin Historical Society and I should be able to verify just how "massive" it flopped...

    RYAN’S DAUGHTER: Discussions for a BD Release (2015 - 2021)

I was somewhat surprised at the picture the new book paints of Fowlie, but when you put together the pieces in past books and documentaries, it's entirely consistent with people no longer giving a damn about holding their tongues while folks are still living and telling the full truth.

Biblical-Roman-Egyptian epics not yet on Blu-ray

Doing a little "filmed in Spain" program of films this week, and was watching Solomon and Sheba. It got me wondering if there's ever been any news on what became of the footage shot with Tyrone Power as Solomon before his untimely death? All I've ever seen are the scant few minutes in this...

My 2 cents worth on "Brothers Grimm"

If I'm still in LA by the time the premiere happens, I'll be buying a ticket for the event day one!

Is Twilight Time Making A Comeback?

Millennial here - I'd really love it if people would stop blaming my generation for literally everything under the sun changing as the years go on. You'd be surprised just how many folks in my age bracket like/love classic movies or are just starting to wade their way into the field. Blanket...

Paramount, The Truman Show and Star Trek: TMP - Special Longer Version need proper releases

Undertaking a restoration project is nowhere near the same thing as 4K/HD masters completed before the pandemic being ported onto discs and being manufactured. That's a whopper of a false equivalency.

    A Few Words About A few words about…™ Spartacus - in 4k UHD Blu-ray

From the camera reports for January 30, 1959. Looks like they only whacked Spartacus twice that day, maybe a couple more times in the long shot. TIMESCENES AND SLATESDESCRIPTION 1:52-2:00Line up 2:00-2:25Discuss action - Dialogue, etc. 2:25-2:30Shooting Sc. 15C 62 - inc. PRINT 15" 63...

Paramount, The Truman Show and Star Trek: TMP - Special Longer Version need proper releases

I have the camera reports for the Memory Wall sequence from the editor's script in Bob Wise's papers at USC. It confirms that all but 2 shots were filmed, and those 2 were marked to be completed in post, due to the extensive VFX work needed.

Pre-Order Spartacus 60th Anniversary Edition (1960) (4k UHD) Available for Preorder

Unless there's something new in the way of special features, I don't see me purchasing Spartacus again. It's surprising that Universal has never created a true making-of documentary for Spartacus for any of the releases over the years. I'd have thought it would've been a shoo-in for the...

TWILIGHT TIME MOVIES PRESS RELEASE: It's Twilight Time For Us! Our "Goodbye" & "Gratitude" Sale

Got the same email and I also ordered on the 10th. I can't find any rhyme or reason to the timing for their shipping of everyone's orders.

TWILIGHT TIME MOVIES PRESS RELEASE: It's Twilight Time For Us! Our "Goodbye" & "Gratitude" Sale

I just went and double checked my invoice on TT's website, and it's showing all but 3 of the titles I ordered are now unavailable, and it still hasn't shipped. Am I going to get screwed out of 8 blurays because of the logistics disaster at the warehouse?

TWILIGHT TIME MOVIES PRESS RELEASE: It's Twilight Time For Us! Our "Goodbye" & "Gratitude" Sale

I ordered on the 10th, #72251, and I'm still waiting on shipment. I'm getting increasingly worried I'm not going to get all 11 titles I ordered...

    "The Alamo"s Status?

As someone who is researching the making of Cleopatra in order to write a book about it, I'm glad you shared this! I've gotten copies of the camera reports from Walter Wanger's papers at the Wisconsin Historical Society, but really haven't had the time to go through all 500+ pages of it as yet...

Would you buy a Cleopatra: Director's Cut?

A lot of it comes down to time. Actual filming on the Mamoulian version of Cleopatra lasted from 9/28/60 until 11/22/60, of which Taylor never filmed a single scene, due to persistent illnesses. During this time, according to the camera reports in Mamoulian's papers at the Library of Congress...

TWILIGHT TIME MOVIES PRESS RELEASE: It's Twilight Time For Us! Our "Goodbye" & "Gratitude" Sale

Shipping for my order came to a hair less than $20. For an order of 11 titles, I think that's fair. Has anyone with a order of more than 2-3 titles had anything ship yet? Just trying to gauge where others are at with theirs.

TWILIGHT TIME MOVIES PRESS RELEASE: It's Twilight Time For Us! Our "Goodbye" & "Gratitude" Sale

It was something I think we all saw coming, but it's still sad to see the end of an era arrive - I cannot give enough thanks to Twilight Time for opening up the vaults and getting hundreds of titles out to the public that might've otherwise languished unseen. Made my final order of 11...

Press Release Paramount Presents: Airplane! (1980) (Blu-ray) Available for Preorder

I still have the old "Don't Call Me Shirley" edition on DVD, and it looks like they've dropped the additional "in-flight entertainment" from that disc.

Criterion Press Release: The War of the Worlds (1953) (Blu-ray)

Unfortunately, he died when my dad was only 11, so I never got the chance to meet him. That's why I treasure his filmography so much - even with his fleeting appearances in the assorted films help me know him at least a little better. He's also a big reason why I love classic movies so much...
