Paramount Pictures to focus on streaming for the forseeable future...

They only spent $17? Wow! Now that's getting bang for the buck!

Paramount Pictures to focus on streaming for the forseeable future...

Which is why I have TOS, Next Gen, Enterprise, Voyager, Discovery and the original cast and NextGen cast films on disk (also the first of the new crew, which seemed an effort fo match up with TOS). Don't have to worry about which streaming service has them (not that my area has the bandwidth...

The Worst Season You Have Ever Bought?

But "RP" did have cool theme music from Dominic Frontiere!

The Worst Season You Have Ever Bought?

There are very series I have trashed (though sometimes I kept the cases if they were well-made), but the most reason was Season 1 of SEAL TEAM. By episode five the repetition had gotten to me, so I skipped to the finale. It ended with a cliffhanger. Goodbye. Today it's five seasons in, and I'm...

What series do you want so badly you would be willing to pay a premium price?

Wasn't it canceled before the first episode ended, maybe during the station break?

Only three, all complete series: St. Elsewhere The Great Adventure Slattery's People

"Law and Order" original series on DVD (1990 - 2010) discussion thread

It always bugged me that the original series never got the love that was lavished on SVU, which I gave up on when it turned out to be a "pervert of the week" show. I'm very happy to have bought the complete L&O series, which was packaged the way they all should have been: a big box with every...

And Bells Are Ringing was in the same season as a little thing called My Fair Lady.

For reasons which passeth all understanding, Elmer Bernstein's one Oscar was for this incidental score, and not for The Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape, The Man With the Golden Arm, To Kill a Mockingbird, Hawaii, The Ten Commandments or any other of his classic scores.

I enjoyed this one, another from Peter Hyams, who has been called "King of the two and a half star movie."

In months time... It'll be the 80th Anniversary of the Pearl Harbor event...

Two words told me just to Red Box it (DVD only) and nothing more: Woody Harrelson -- as Chester Nimitz, no less! I slogged through one viewing. That's time I'll never get back!

In months time... It'll be the 80th Anniversary of the Pearl Harbor event...

The biggest howler (and it had some pretty stiff competition) in Pearl Harbor is FDR standing up to convince everyone the Doolittle Raid was not impossible. Aside from the obvious physical impossibilities (he always needed help to get standing and then basically dragged his legs forward by sheer...

"Law and Order" original series on DVD (1990 - 2010) discussion thread

Jerry Orbach's character intro was classic. He arrives last to the scene and . . . Logan: Don't you have a pager? Briscoe: What I was doing I don't wear a pager.

Blu-ray Review A Few Words About A few words about…™ Bringing Up Baby – in Blu-ray

I LOVE that film, and the chemistry she has with Grant. I'd buy a blu of it in a minute, but the DVD will have to do for now.

    Blu-ray Review A Few Words About A few words about…™ In Harm's Way – in Blu-ray

That's also the part of the picture when it lost any grip on believability. Maybe it would have worked on a film released in the midst of WW2, but not since.

    Richard Diamond, Private Eye

I have that disk. It's the two episodes referenced in other posts. I see the price if over $50 now -- nearly 10 times what I pad for mine back when!

    NETFLIX MOVIES SELLING ON EBAY?

I bought the blu of BROADWAY MELODY OF 1940, which left the question of what to do with my old DVD. Obvious solution: Offer it to a friend who is a serious dancer. After all, the flick is awash in great dance numbers, especially the classic "Begin the Beguine" tap-off with Fred Astaire and...

    Pre-Order In Harm's Way (1965) (Blu-ray) Available for Preorder

This is one of the few John Wayne movies that does nothing for me. I didn't believe BUT -- lots of people love the film and I'm glad they're getting it. Me, I'm waiting for The Shootist, Island in the Sky and The High and the Mighty.

Those of us who have been in business understand. You don't work for nothing. That's for your hobby. In business you have to pay the bills and the staff, and have something left to pay your bills. You don't put out the money unless there's a decent shot at a return. I'm just happy when one of my...

I would put in a word for "You Are Beautiful" and "I Am Going to Like It Here" as well, and I confess to enjoying "Grant Avenue" -- maybe it's that hidden "Grant Avenue/Can't have a new" rhyme. (I write songs, plays and a musical, and love that sort of thing.)

I wouldn't be surprised, but he'll be in good company with those incredibly offensive Muppets and Aristocats.

Oh no! I don't have many Warner snapper cases left

I'm down to just two snappers: The Late Show and The Sea Wolves. Both need blu releases, The Late Show with the initial theatrical release scenes restored. For some reason, some scenes were cut AFTER the film was released. The actors who appeared in those scenes are still listed in the credit crawl.

Question about Warner Archive MOD TV series sets

One of the best private eye shows, David Janssen's Harry O, is WAC. At least initially, both seasons were pressed discs. Don't know if they're still pressed or MOD. In any event, good stuff.

Criterion Press Release: The Parallax View (Blu-ray)

Vast conspiracy movies, while they can be fun, lost all sense of realism for me in the Clinton years. I mean, if the president of the United States can't get a, well, you know, in the oval office, when only two people were present, without the whole world knowing about it, how can there ever be...

Scott Atwell Star Trek Discussion thread (Series and Films)

The biggest difference is that The Original Series Actors were able to play the comedy scenes. "The Trouble With Tribbles" and the fourth movie ("Voyage Home") really show off their skills at it. They seemed to be really enjoying those scenes.
