Back in 1980, my wife and I along with my brother and his wife went to see a different movie and it was sold out. Hopscotch (which none of us had heard of) was starting a few minutes later on one of the other screens and we decided to give it a try. What a nice surprise! It remains one of our...
I got the same notification. This was supposed to be a surprise birthday present for someone this weekend. I cancelled my Amazon order and ordered it from Kino instead.
One golden parachute at AT&T that comes to mind is when they hired John Walters away from the RR Donnelly CEO job in 1996, with the promise he would get the AT&T CEO seat when Robert Allen retired. Nine months into his tenure as AT&T president, the board lost faith in him and told him that he...
I'm a retired (original) AT&T technical manager. In my last gig, I was responsible for designing and providing support for custom voice and data networks for large customers. Watching AT&T buy, mismanage and then dump a seemingly endless list of companies (such as NCR) that were supposed to...

My copy arrived yesterday to my surprise. After two "hurry up and wait" WAC orders from Amazon, I used Best Buy this time.
This is one of my all-time favorite movies.
We watched it last night and were not disappointed. It's a huge step up from the DVD. There's still a brief odd optical...
I guess I got lucky. As soon as I saw that it wasn't available on Amazon, I looked it up on BB. I must have snagged one of the last copies (of the first batch).
My corrected set arrived from PBS today. A quick check of Episode 1 shows the problem has been corrected, at least to my eyes and modest system. The side bars are now black, and the picture no longer looks whitewashed. The beginning and end titles now have a black background.
The package...
