I like having the debate and the data. I prefer movies shot on film to look like film and if I pay money for a de-grained release like this then I'm telling the studios it's fine to keep doing this. I know static screenshots aren't the best way to gauge the PQ but you guys are saving me $$.

Based on the pores visible in Sigourney Weaver's cheeks in the bottom photo, I guess this lends credence to the contention that a 2K image harvest does contain detail that doesn't necessarily make it into the finished 1080P BD. Unless the AI generated those pores. I will probably spin my copy...

For $8 I may keep them both to compare. Wouldn’t be the first time; I think I’ve owned 2 versions each of the DVD, BD, and UHD releases of Halloween. Still have the THX DVD for the nighttime coloring and Carpenter’s commentary, both of which showed up -sort of- on the last UHD+BD combo package.

Ordered. Thanks for the tip! A quick search for UHD movies at their site showed a number of decent titles for under $10. Got some of them too. Happy to get these prices but sad that in 2024 I'll have to shop Amazon for "non-boutique" UHDs.

I remember when this first came out on DVD, my local Media Play had the version with an actual snow globe. (I'm trying to remember if I'd seen the movie yet at that point, and thereby understood the scene being depicted in said snow globe)

To this day I still go into the audio setup of every blu-ray to choose the format before starting the movie. There's occasionally one with lossless audio which defaults to DD. Interesting tidbit about PCM. I have several of those titles. I was glad to upgrade my copy of M:I3 to UHD this year...

Thanks for the review. I planned to pickup the UHD this season but ended up watching me BD copy a couple days ago. Was shocked to see that DD was the best audio option on the BD. Will pick this up for next year's annual horror movie marathon.

I avoid buying from Amazon so BB has been my go-to for discs for a while. If they are dropping online disc sales that will suck for me. My local store has mostly had only new releases for a while, though I have picked up clearance titles. Since I'm cheap and wait for sales I've definitely not...
