What to buy - Onkyo 606 vs. Pioneer 1018 vs Denon 1908/09 vs ???

J&R still has the Denon 1909 at the great pre-order price of $499 shipped.(someone just called and got it.) If you are thinking about the 1909 I'd call soon. I ordered mine on the 29th and it shipped today.

What to buy - Onkyo 606 vs. Pioneer 1018 vs Denon 1908/09 vs ???

I was on the fence between getting the Pio 1018 & Denon 1909, but decided on the Denon because of the Dynamic Volume feature. I have had a Pio Elite for several years and loved it, but it is time to upgrade. Also J&R has a really sweet pre-order deal on the 1909 (by phone - it isn't listed on...

    Receiver Recommendations

You can get the Pioneer VSX-1018TXH-K from their website for sure. I've heard people getting them in some B&M stores as well, but can't remember where. Pioneer USA - Pioneer A/V Receivers Click the Buy Now button. Also they have it listed at $599 (which is $50 less than Best Buy had...

    Receiver Recommendations

I would look at the new Denons. You should be able to get the 1909 for $600 - $650. The 789 should be basically the same receiver for $50 less (not sure of the differences). The new receivers have the Dynamic Volume feature: http://www.audyssey.com/. I'm considering the Denon 1909/789 (will...

If your format of choice loses, how upset will you be

I'd be broke from buying up all the clearance HD DVD titles I want. Other than that I'd be enjoying my 360 Add-on (Best $200 I've spent in recent years) with all the titles I own. I would get a BR player when the price was right and continue to enjoy the world of HD movies!

A Few Words About A few words about...™ Lady in the Water -- in HD

I really enjoyed LiW (which I rented the HD DVD version from Blockbuster online - I'll buy it someday). I've liked all his films. If I had to put them in order of favorite to least favorite: 1. Unbreakable 2. Signs 3. Lady in the Water 4. Sixth Sense 5. The Village

Stephen King's 'Desperation', anyone catch this?

What market are you in? I can confirm a bad non-HD broadcast in Dallas. I have it TiVo'd, but I'm not sure if I'll watch it.

    Weekly RoundUp 5-23-2006

Best Buy's Boston Legal deal for me. I just started watching in the 2nd season and have never seen The Practice so they will all be new to me. The practice episodes are on a disc slipped inside the box set. There was a sticker on the outside saying that it was included.

Grey's Anatomy season 2 ongoing thread

I will be watching Grey & the new Sorkin show. CSI is great, but just like Law & Order I can only take so many years of shows like this. I like shows with more of an ongoing storyline. My gf got me into Grey & I think it is one of the best shows on right now. I'm a big fan of Sorkin's...
