I'm looking at getting the Samsung 40/42" LCD 1080p TV (something like the LNT4061), but my wife and I aren't home theatre addicts in the sense that we really need surround sound or the like, we just want to be able to hear it, and figuring out a place for all the speakers + receiver etc...

I don't think it's so much about the color, my understanding is that if the studios decide to turn on the ability of HD-DVD/Blu Ray discs to downgrade over any connection other than HDMI, it will require HDMI 1.3... in other words, even having a TV with a 1.2 connection won't stop the downgrading.

I can't see how this would work big picture. Theoretically, you would want every single copy of a movie to have a unique watermark so you could pinpoint down to the person who let the original copy out of the bag. Except that really doesn't do anything because noone would be involved in...

Pete, is there something more substantial than that link that says this? All that link seems to say to me is the same thing, that Universal won't initially use downrez (and I say initially because like it or not, it's always an option for them, even if they say they will never use it)...

I could live with the series ending any way EXCEPT "status quo". Even though TV series are longer lived, I still want my beginning, middle, and end (although with TV you generally start in the middle and pick up the beginning as you go, especially in this series ;)

And this is the ultimate problem. Deactivation may be debunked now, but guess what, a modification to your firmware can easily mean that all of a sudden it's a very real possibility a few years down the road. Now, that wouldn't be a problem if you had a high level of trust with the company...
