My first VHS was MGM's "2001: A Space Odyssey." Next, The Criterion Editions's laserdisc of Kubrick's Odyssey, followed by the dvd, the bluray, and then the UHD of the movie.
I got a replacement disc 2 or 3 weeks ago. I was amazed at the quick response, only to realize as I listened that there was no fix for the original mono. They sent out discs identical to the ones in the set. Still waiting on a real replacement disc.
Anybody noticing problems with USPS? My 4K Hitch has been sitting in Texas for 3 days. Another Amazon order reached Montgomery AL (50 miles from me) and the next morning it was in Tulsa OK, where it has been sitting for 2 days. How will the election happen with already such confusion and error?
I received my replacement extras disc for LoA 3 days ago! That is good, quick service. I expect some of the early reviews will be revised a bit with the arrival of this edit to the package.
I just tried to watch the Criterion WALKABOUT on my LG 4K player. Truly, it is at least half-dead, stopping at 49:56. I bought this years ago. I will email Criterion and ask them to send me a replacement. I've had several laser discs that died of disc rot over the years, but hadn't encountered...
Yes, it can be so difficult calibrating and tweaking settings on the UHD screen. But stick with it, because all the reviews I've read are uniformly positive about this release. I have watched the entire 228 minutes, and the only true flaw is the special features disc.
