    Unreleased Christmas specials?

Skinflint: A Country Christmas Carol - a 1979 movie staring many country movie stars (Hoyt Axton, Tom T. Hall, Lynn Anderson, Larry Gatlin, etc.)

    shows that have been destroyed

Sorry for getting the soaps mixed up. I've heard the audio on YouTube, and she did sound drunk. But you still would have thought that someone would have saved those tapes, if only for laughs (like a blooper reel). "A Man Called Shenandoah" lost 5 of 34 episodes somewhere along the way. That's...

    Empire, Long Hot Summer

LHS in black & white isn't so strange when you think of the times. First, it was on ABC, a network ambivalent about color due to cost. The network wouldn't kick in any extra money to a production company for color. Second, Fox produced "Peyton Place", "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" and "12...

    shows that have been destroyed

It still shocks me that the networks didn't flag tapes that may have been of interest. Like Joan Crawford filling in for her daughter on "Love of Life". You would have thought that someone at CBS would have flagged the 4 episodes for posterity, or made a copy or kinescope for Miss Crawford as a...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

From my limited understanding of the process it can only be done for kinescopes made in PAL. It has to do with the way color (or colour, if you will) information is transmitted - just enough of the information gets caught on the edge of the kinescope film. I've never heard of color recovery from...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

CBS did buy a TV set manufacture in hopes of being able to market CBS color TVs in 1951. IIRC it was the company that made Air-Kings (Hytron Electronics). There was a line of CBS-Columbia B&W TVs for a while in the 50s, but from what I heard they were somewhat inferior sets (feel free to correct...

Is the b&w era of TV on DVD slowly coming to an end?

Wagon Train did 5 episodes in color in the 5th season, while still on NBC. It went all color and expanded to 90 minutes for the 7th season (by then on ABC) but went back to B&W and 60 minutes for the 8th and last season. The color episodes of the 5th season were mastered in B&W for syndication...

2013 Track the TV Episodes you watch

I love Space Mutiny! I watched 2 MST3K episodes this weekend. On Friday it was Agent for HARM (followed by the original version - I'm a glutton for punishment!) and yesterday it was Girl in Gold Boots. Next up today is Werewolf (or Wur-wulf, as the leading lady pronounced it).

Short-Lived American shows available in R2

Looks like Captain Nice has a German soundtrack only. Same thing for Pistols 'n Petticoats. And Run, Buddy, Run. How hard would it be to have the original soundtrack included? Guess it depends on the masters used for production.

Short-Lived American shows available in R2

Unfortunately the stuff from Germany is a mixed bag. I would have bought "The Detectives" if there were an English sound track. I did get "Mr. Terrific" (only problem is the animated opening does not have the audio, even on the English soundtrack), and "Tammy" is also available. My jaw dropped...
