Wow, I didn't know about B-stock, thanks for that tip. The other thing is that the Level 3s are a bit big - for the wife's appearance specifications, don'cha know. (Towers are out of the question.) I'm even more seriously considering the Level 2s now that I could get them in B-stock. But I'm...
I didn't realize the BS22s are available at Best Buy. I think your recommendation is a good one. I should go listen for myself. Those Ascends look great, but a bit out of my price range. The HTD Level 2s are right at the top of my range.
Thanks, John, I appreciate the recommendation! I'm a bit torn about the phrase "no brightness". What I'm currently missing is top end, but at the same time, I don't want harshness.
I'm also thinking about HTD Level 2s if anyone has experience with those.
Thanks for that info. Well, maybe it is my age then. In which case I should go for the BICs which have a very bright sound. I think I'll wait to see if there are any other responses that address the actual speaker comparison first, though.
Anybody got a quick recommendation for me? I'm on the verge of buying the BIC DV62sis for my small home theater room mains to replace a pair of 7" tall Boston Acoustics that came in my 5.1 set, but are sounding very tired to me. (No, I don't *think* it's the fact that I just turned 50.) I would...
Ah, I see what you're getting at. Might as well take advantage of whatever good sound quality we can get from the computer by going in to the receiver. (Goodness, that seems obvious now  ) I guess the only benefit from going right to the TV is that it's one less thing to turn on, if...
Oh, good, thanks! I have the computer hooked to the TV because there are things we can access only on a browser that we like to watch as a family on the big screen. And then there's the occasional home movie as well. I'll be interested to see what the Smart TV functions of the Vizio are that...
I've gotten a new 50" Vizio E500I-a1 Smart TV and Denon AVR-E300 receiver. My old receiver was non-HDMI, and my old TV only had 1 HDMI in, so I used a switcher to connect the Blu-ray and the computer to theTV. I'd just like to confirm that the following setup is correct for my new system...
I'm a former audio engineer who knows a decent amount about pro audio, but less about home theater. I figure most stuff out on my own, and hope to be able to help out others now and then, but I'm glad to have a place to come to for that experiential advice that can really turn your day around. :)
Thanks for the thoughts! I have super fast Comcast (20 Mbps down, 6 up) and I do occasionally watch video on my computer, just not the show that is the worst offender: Dr. Who, season 5+ (https://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/Doctor_Who/70142441?locale=en-US). In the intro segment, as the Tardis...
It's easy to get those RCA cables plugged into the wrong spots. To start, make sure you've got the 3 video component cables (green, blue and red) going into the matching jacks, and nothing into the yellow composite jack. Then make sure you've selected the correct input - component - on your TV...
I have an LG Blu Ray player (2-3 years old) connected via HDMI to an LG HDTV and the HD images are never a problem from a disk. On the other hand, I have my BR player connected to the internet via ethernet cable, and any time I stream videos, fast motion or swirling colors really make the...
