No real target budget, but the cheaper it is, the easier it is to convince the wife. Maybe around 1k-1.5k for all speakers? Yes I'm in NC. We were thinking of putting the L/R speakers on the book shelf on the sides of the fireplace and the center one above the fireplace on the mantel and below...
I see, thanks. I was expecting to get a bundle, but I will look into buying the pair/center/subwoofer separately. Does it matter if they are from different brands and would there be certain compatibility issues with receivers?
You were helping me (post #342 on previous page) and recommended a 3.1.2 speaker system. The only speakers(?)(thought sound bars are considered speakers) I could find are sound bars. Do you recommend speakers that are 3.1.2 or 3.1 that would great with a receiver? Appreciate it
Hmm, I was hoping to be able to switch between a TV and projector for multiple video games / PC / NAS / maybe other audio sources for this one audio output. Do you have other recommendations to handle this?
Hi all,
I've decided to go with a 3.1.2 soundbar system: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-3-1-2-channel-440w-soundbar-system-with-wireless-subwoofer-and-dolby-atmos-with-google-assistant-black/6402206.p?skuId=6402206.
Can anyone recommend a compatible and reliable receiver?
Yes, that is plausible. There is a mantle above the fireplace that the TV currently is mounted above. We can run the cable along the wall of that.
I think sticking with 3.1 or 3.1.2 (first time hearing of this) sounds like a good plan. Are there any suggestions for specific speakers/receivers...
Oh, wired power is fine. Just can't wire from the front to the back of the room from the receiver.
An all in one system sounds fine for us. I'm curious as to why wireless wouldn't work that well. Should I just stick with a 3.1 soundbar or something then?
What are you looking for (Speakers, Subwoofer or Both)? Both (& receiver)
Primary Use: 50% gaming 50% TV and movies
Desired Configuration: 5.1 (7.1 is okay if it works out easier)
Room Size: 21x14' (open long side to kitchen/dining area)
Is the room open to other areas of your home: Yes
Do...
Looking further into the wireless options, the response time doesn't seem like it'd be too reliable. Particularly for gaming (which we plan on doing quite a bit). So, that is probably out. The speakers will be placed on the shelves and there's a shelf above the fireplace for the center speaker...
Thanks for the reply!
I think that buying a new projector isn't out of the question, but we'd rather keep the room clear of any more tables/furniture in the center area at least. We were probably going to mount the Optoma to the ceiling somewhere. We were considering hiding the cables running...
Hi all!
We are trying to set up a home theater system in our living room of about 21x14'. Seating would be along the shorter side and viewing across the 21'. I already have an Optoma HD20 from years ago as well as a 100" screen that will go in front of the fireplace hung from the ceiling. We...
Thanks so much guys. You have answered all of my questions in clear and understandable way to a novice like me . I am excited to see how this works out! I do apolagize for the forum post issues, I'm also a newbie to the interwebs, but can't say this enough...Thanks!
Wow thanks for the quick reply and great response! That was exactly what I wanted to know. I'm looking at maybe a $200-500 budget just off the top of my head. Another question I forgot to ask in the first place was if it was possible to buy a surround sound system and not a reciever? Are...
Hello, Long story short, we recently dug up a TX-8211 reciever hooked up to 2 Bose 201 series IV, and we are far from experts on this stuff but know some basics. We will be getting a PS3 to play games on and watch movies via our LCD projector. Now, the video seems simple, hook up PS3 to...
