What they did to the huge area in the Union Square store that used to have physical media (DVD, Blu-ray, and in the past CD) ? They just built a wall around the empty space !
I was waiting for Diabolik to get the 4K version of "PT" back in stock and place my order when I saw Criterion is putting it out. Even though it's slightly more (I'm determined to find it on sale) I'll wait for the Criterion
This needs to go straight to 4K Blu-ray , don't just leave at 1080
And bring "Doctor Zhivago" as long as well
In fact, WB probably has most of the films I really want to see on 4k but haven't been released as of yet ...
Just 3 or 4 years I ago I would see tons of "Sand Pebbles" Blu-rays in the $5.99 bin at Best Buy all the time (along with a whole slew of other Fox titles on Blu at that price point like "Gentlemen's Agreement" and a whole bunch of Marilyn Monroe films)...Kicking myself for not grabbing them...
I always hope for the same title to hopefully be released by Kino (or even Universal's own MOD program) , and that is "The Great Man" starring and directed by Jose Ferrer from 1957 (and made the NY Times 10 Best Films list that year)
And one more- a no brainer that I'm shocked hasn't been released on Blu-ray in America (considering that almost every other film by this director has come out on Blu)- and that's The Defiant Ones
I forgot to add two extra titles that I am shocked that Warner Archives have not released on Blu-ray (considering that both were nominated for numerous Academy Awards in back to back years- and both directed by a cinema master Fred Zinnemann )- The Nun's Story and The Sundowners
These are my most wanted titles on Blu-ray. Some have been on DVD, some never on any format
The Little Foxes
Dead End
The Bishops Wife
Hud
Catch 22
Carnal Knowledge
Paper Moon
Splendor in the Grass
America America
A Hatful of Rain
Advise and Consent
Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore...
