Looking for advice on best "stretch" mode

I'm currently looking for a new 32" TV for the bedroom. I already have two 42" Panasonic plasmas in other rooms. The primary reason I purchased them was the superior stretch mode for SD viewing. However, I was wondering in the past couple of years if Panasonic still has the best. I like the...

Is my Onkyo TX- SR601 dying ?

I have a question about my TX- SR601 its about 5 years old I purchased as a manf. refurb. It seems like I have to run the volume at an extremely high level(65 to 75) to produce adequate listening levels. I have checked to make sure that this is not related to the intellivolume feature being...

    EDTV vs HDTV

In my never ending quest to decide what to do with my old SONY HD WEGA(repair or replace). I'm wondering how much improvement I will notice with a new Panasonic 42" TH-42PX75U HD vs my current Panny" TH-42PWD7UY which is ED. I was going to move my ED to replce the WEGA and purchase a TH-42PX75U...

    Componet Video Splitter ?

I have an 2 year old "Panny" TH-42PWD7UY. However it only has one input for composite video. I need to be able to hookup my cable box and PS3. Is there anything other than an A/V receiver I can use to plug both the PS3 and the cable box into and then run the line to the TV? My other option...

    To repair or replace?

That's kinda what I was thinking. However, I already own an Panasonic ED plasma that I have been pleased with. So I was looking for something for around $1,000 my question now is LCD or plasma? I know LCD has come a ways since I bought my plasma 3 years ago.

    To repair or replace?

I have a Sony KV-36HS420 that needs a new d-board I think. According to the technician, part is $450, to repair is $600. My question is should I repair this or simply chunk it and spend my $600 towards a new TV? This TV is less than 3 years old and was working perfectly until this happened...

    720 p vs 480 p

A new programmable remote might be worth looking into. However, the programmable remote I have now does not work with the MOXI signals sadly. Also even a macro funtion would be somewhat annoying as you have to go thru about six menu functions to switch from 480p to 720p. I wish the Moxi box had...

    720 p vs 480 p

That does make sense. So it isn't just my imagination. Do any of you know whether or not 480p is typicaly broadcast in the 4:3 aspect ratio? I know the 720p output on my cable box is 16:9 I think the 480p is 16:9 as well but I can't really tell since the TV makes sure all images fill the whole...

    720 p vs 480 p

But not taking into consideration stretch modes shouldn't 480p and 720p look the same since the EDTV can only display 480? I swear to me the 720p looks a little crisper even when using the same stretch modes for both 480 and 720. Is it just my imagination?

    720 p vs 480 p

I have question about 720 vs 480 progressive signals. I'm trying to calibrate my new Panasonic TH-42PWD7UY with a resolution 852 x 480 with the MOXI cable box. The cable box does not have an "override" function that recognizes the difference between HD and non HD sources. I like the aspect ratio...

S-video vs Componet cables how much will I be losing ?

I realize that all things being equal component cables(red, blue, green) is the best option. However, I have an Onkyo TXSR601 hooked up to my Panasonic TH-42PWD7UY and no matter what I do I continually get those "hum bars" or horizontal banding or whatever its called. I know it is caused from...

    Overheating Question ?

So are there any suggestions as to what I can do. Due to built in cabinets that all these items are going to have to fit into. Everything is going to have sit on a counter together and there is no room to go side by side. I could put the cable box on the bottom but it throws off heat as well and...
