what's a ground loop hum and what do I do about it?

My Pioneer VSX510 tells me to set the crossover to 200Hz if my speakers are small which they are...but you guys are recommending not higher than 100Hz....what should I do? My sub is a 5yr old mirage PS12-180 which is rumbling oddly at times (not affected by crossover setting)

Hi why is it my subwoofer Mirage PS12-180 has two inputs..for right and left when receivers have only one pre-out for the sub? Does it matter which input we use? Thanks

Hi all Am using a 5 yr old, big and powerful Mirage subwoofer in my home theatre system but am finding the bass flabby...what can I do to tighten it up? Can't remember what the knobs at the back do..there's one for level and one for output. THanks Ron

Thanks Chris. I have reduced my brightness and contrast levels from the preset levels and hopefully this will help. I wonder when these channels will stop imposing their logos on us! Ron

Hi nathan Thanks for comments...I tried what you suggested by connecting the 2 channel stereo output to my Dolby ProLogic receiver and yes...I'm getting sound through all the 5.1 speakers.....but are you saying that this is not true 5.1 surround sound? Ron

Yes..I was mortified that my brand new plasma was so afflicted...the burned area is still there but less so today....how can I watch more football in peace though? Sigh. Do you know if the burn in is permanent?
