I would certainly never avoid a film if I already knew the end, but the more mystey the better. (I've also been planning to read Ellis's book, so I guess one of them would be spoiled either way, :D )
The EEs are not the definitive versions of the films. Jackson said that the theatrical cuts are his prefered cuts, and the EEs were put together for the fans.

Complain much? None of these are certain just yet. It's very likely some of them will change. Especially with Kong which is still nine months off. Yeah, it would be unfortunate if most of the extras were about the remake, but seeing as Kong's release was held off to coincide with the remake...
