Just to add a bit more...I am thinking of buying these ceiling speakers: http://www.menards.com/main/electrical/electronics/speakers/6-1-2-round-speaker-2-pack/p-1706837-c-6300.htm and these in-wall speakers...
I'm hoping someone can help me with an inexpensive sound system for our basement. Below is a picture of the layout of the basement.
Here is what I am looking to accomplish:
- Create a home theater area to watch movies and TV.
- Be able to play music stored on Galaxy S3 phones and/or ipod...
It would probably take 3-6 months. They also have the PSB Alpha LR1 for 14,970. My other concern is finding the floorstands for a decent price in a couple of months. I'm pretty sure the Polk TSi300 is on sale quite often at Fry's but I don't believe I've ever seen the FSB (I never even heard...
It's a health program where I get points for achieving certain goals etc. I have 11,227 points right now so would have to wait on the B1 and the TSx110. If I go with the TSi100 I would have leftover points that I could put toward the center speaker (CS10 - 5,988 points; CS20 - 8,982 points)...
So the PBS B1 is that much better than the Polk TSi100? The B1 is 17,964 points and the TSi100 is 8,982. I can also get the Polk TSx110 for 13,772. I currently have 11,227 points so would have to wait until I accrue more the B1 and TSx110.
Like I said earlier, we'll be using the speakers for probably 75% home theater (either direct TV programming or usually just normal DVDs...not Blu-ray). When we do use it for music, we will probably be hooking it up to an Ipod/phone and either streaming music from Pandora or playing music saved...
Okay. I'm sure this is a dumb question (like I said earlier, I'm music illiterate), but why would I want to turn off the subwoofer? What is the benefit of doing so?
To be honest, I have no idea what "pure 2.0" even is. I looked on Denon's website but see no reference to "pure 2.0".

Sounds good. Will I see a major difference by ordering the TSi200 over the TSi100 or the TSi400 over the TSi300? Keep in mind that I have no musical inclinations at all and that on our other TV we have a cheap LG LHT854 HTiB system.
I am looking for suggestions on which speakers to order. The speakers will be connected to a Denon 1613. The speakers would be primarily for home theater viewing (at least 75%). Initially I am just planning on ordering two bookshelf speakers with plans later to add a center, subwoofer and...
Thanks we currently have a five year old LG LHT854 HTIB system (with a DVD built-in - no true receiver) in our family room (this new system will be in our newly finished basement) so I'm our planned system will sound better.
Thanks David! I've read a lot of the threads you mentioned above. Your setup is exactly the setup (including the surrounds and sub) that I was thinking of. How do you like it? Is it loud enough? I have a fairly large room that I will be placing it any.
I have pretty much decided on purchasing two Pioneer SP-FS52-LR to match with my Denon 1613 (I will add a subwoofer, center and maybe surrounds down the road). Before I do so though I wanted to ask everyone's opinion on whether the FS52s are my best option or should I maybe look at...
