    'FINAL FANTASY' dvd, absolutely INCREDIBLE!

I don't want to turn this into an Akira-bashing thread, but I have to say that I too found said movie rather dull, I doubt if I'll ever have the urge to watch it again. And yes, I DID understand the story. On the other hand, as noted elsewhere, I loved Final Fantasy. :-) Phil

    'FINAL FANTASY' dvd, absolutely INCREDIBLE!

To Mark Zimmer - Believe me, Final Fantasy is far, far superior to Lost in Space and The Mummy! Both those films WERE an EXTREME yawn! Phil

    'FINAL FANTASY' dvd, absolutely INCREDIBLE!

I'll join those who are praising this movie and add a virtual pat on the back. I found it a superb film, very engrossing, not dull for an instant. Oh, and I never felt sleepy once. :) I'll definitely be watching it again, no worries there. It is though one of those films where you have to pay...

    Shogun mini series

I would certainly buy Shogun on DVD, assuming the transfer was a good one. I currently have it on PAL VHS - as you would expect from VHS the picture and sound isn't exactly brilliant. I understand a full restoration of the Shogun material would cost over $1 million? Either that or a digital...

Anyone heard anything about Watership Down or Secret of Nimh ?

Oh, and apparently it's a rather poor DVD in terms of picture reproduction, aspect ratio, etc. :-( Phil

CE3K - question re documentary on 2nd DVD

Re the excellent documentary on the 2nd DVD of CE3K - where was the interview with Spielberg filmed? The set of Saving Private Ryan? One of the sets of Schindler's List? Also, how recent was the interview with Richard Dreyfus? He didn't look as old as he normally does in films - hair dye maybe...

IMAX 're-edited' Beauty and the Beast, time for a DVD petition?

Brian W - well said, couldn't have said it better myself. :) That's exactly the point I should have made in my initial posting. Phil

IMAX 're-edited' Beauty and the Beast, time for a DVD petition?

It seems that Disney's Beauty and the Beast will be getting an IMAX release next year, and as a result of this will 'benefit' from some redrawn artwork and possibly even one or two extra scenes and segments. The major change seems to be the insertion of a Menken and Ashman song with associated...

What Patriotic films are available on DVD?

How about 'The Shawshank Redemption'? Okay, so it's not particularly patriotic but it is a wonderfully moving story about hope against all the odds and that most important of things, friendship. Curiously enough I was watching this film (for about the 12th time!) when my father phoned me to ask...

Scariest, Spookiest, will have nightmares for a week DVD!!!

I'll second that, I too am surprised that no-one has mentioned the excellent British TV movie 'The Woman in Black'. Very few ghost stories have the ability to scare me, the only two are 'The Woman in Black' and 'The Changeling'. The whole of 'The Woman in Black' has a really creepy atmosphere to...
