    Blu-ray Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ - The Quatermass Experiment (take 2) -- in Blu-ray

Have to recommend Hammer's 1956 "X the Unknown" where Dean Jagger plays the Quatermass adjacent Dr. Royston. I think it fits nicely into the Quatermass camp.

UHD Review Star Trek V: The Final Frontier UHD Review

If we are talking about story, not script, its a good one, with a tried and true high concept gimmick. With time, a few more passes at the script might have fixed it up quite nicely. As someone already pointed out though, having new characters appear and be related to older, established ones, is...

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ - Event Horizon -- in 4k UHD

This supply situation has always been somewhat of a problem with physical media collectors. Do we pre-order and take our chances with the transfer, or, wait until the reviews are in to make a purchase? It used to be that we had a little time to suss things out. More than 2 weeks, anyway! And the...

Criterion Collection: Purge DVD versions once BluRays are released???

My Man Godfrey Criterion dvd has a commentary track that their subsequent Blu-ray release did not. Be careful.

Why isn't anyone screaming about THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER not on Blu?

I have always loved this one, with it's sympathetic role for Bette Davis, who, I think, makes you forget that she's Bette Davis. The wife and I also like the 2000 version very much, but the dvd from Image is pretty bad, and now goes for outrageous sums on Amazon.

Has detailed critiquing of Blu-Rays gone overboard.

If one can tolerate hyperbole in marketing, then one should be able to tolerate it in criticism.

Has detailed critiquing of Blu-Rays gone overboard.

Sony set the bar pretty high. "The best High Definition Picture." "Blu-ray disc's unrivaled capacity delivers the ultimate high definition experience directly into your home." "Beyond high definition. Pristine picture. True to the original master quality." "Best high definition picture...

House of Fury from Tai Seng

This is not "...redistributed from MegaStar". This is an official Blu-Ray Disc for North America only, purchased from Best Buy in Trotwood, Ohio, USA. There is no mention of MegaStar on either the packaging or disc content. Tai Seng is featured prominately on both packaging and content (their...

House of Fury from Tai Seng

I picked up this entertaining Stephen Fung film (produced by Jackie Chan) on Blu-ray this weekend. Due to this being a Tai Seng release, I was quite worried about the transfer. Tai Seng is very hit-or-miss quality wise on dvd, usually giving a flat looking, letterboxed picture. That's why I'm...

Unfortunately - no more Shu Qi. Just more violence. Now I'm sad at the lost opportunity. Thanks a lot Chris! As for Transporter 2, dvdcompare.com says, "The 'Uncut' version of the film is 24.5 seconds longer then the theatrical version and contains CGI improvements to special effects in the...

Stephen - As far as I can recall, the whole thing (Transporter) was in English. Even the French inspector. Oh wait, I think I remember one of the gendarmes yelling "Merde!" Ha ha... Joe - Yes, there are alternate cuts for both Transporter films. You can check it out on dvdcompare.net if you'd...

I've received the Transporter set on BR from Japan and it looks much better than the US BR (different codec?). Plus they are the International versions with a little more violence in the fights which was cut to make them PG-13 stateside. Edit: Spelling.
