    Boardwalk Empire official discussion thread

It was a bit slow but I am hoping to see some more punch from Macdonald's character soon and some more action on the Boardwalk proper. It is interesting for a show about the Boardwalk so little of it takes place in context of it. For example, with some many comparisons to DEADWOOD, that...

    the Venture Bros. season 4

I totally agree...this was one of funniest episodes of the series. I was watching with a friend and we had to pause the replay after the tits scene. It just went on and on and we couldn't stop laughing. The War Room scene wasn't quite as funny (though Tiger Shark bit was) but all the stuff...

    Boardwalk Empire official discussion thread

Loved this show! I love the semi-impotence/semi-invincible quality of Enoch. On the one hand, he is THE man about town and can get what he wants, when he wants...unless it is into his own bathroom. or even to have free time to schtup his mistress. What a hoot! I loved his butler, too. I...

Running Wilde - season 1 thread

I thought it was pretty funny and had some of the same manic vibe of ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT which means it likely won't find its audience and again will be cancelled too soon. Oh well. :-) I liked the overall show. I saw the GOB Bluth too but he was still perfect for the role. He isn't quite...

Raising Hope - season 1 thread

I liked this for the most part but mostly near the end. I am attracted to this sort of story rather than the "Friends" and "Frasiers" too but I found that the show teetered too close to cloying about the "stupid white trash" model. The humor was much better when the characters seemed more...

    "X-Men Origins: First Class"

That is outstanding. I was just thinking about this regarding the Fantastic Four franchise, too. I was looking at a cover I have from issue 1 on the wall and thought that would make for a nice re-boot of that franchise. To do it with X-Men would be too freaking cool. I know comics write...

    "X-Men Origins: First Class"

Will we get a good ROCKETEER after CAPTAIN AMERICA next year since they share directors? I certainly hope so. This is an often forgetting gem from the 80's that captured comics better than most even today. Great stuff.

    "X-Men Origins: First Class"

I like Banshee in the old comics. Too bad they are making him so young. In the X-Men comics he always came across as an older guy who had been around the world a bit doing other things (he was Interpol if I recall). He balanced out the newbies of the time. I agree that Havok would be...

*** Official THE EXPENDABLES Discussion Thread

I really enjoyed this movie for the most part but did so floating on 80's nostalgia. A sequel will need to work harder to get the same joy. A-TEAM, THE LOSERS and hell, even SCOTT PILGRIM were better directed, acted but most importantly choreographed movies. I can live without the first two...

*** Official SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD Discussion Thread

I have to wonder if anyone else was in love with the soundtrack like I was? I saw this in a preview performance a few weeks ago and was chomping at the bit to get the red cover soundtrack (with the rock music from the film...the blue cover is the soundtrack score and incidental music, it...

*** Official SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD Review Thread

I was hoping to see if anyone had any early reviews of SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD from last night's preview. I am in Cleveland and was lucky enough to catch this film a couple weeks before it opens. I don't do many reviews for HTF so here goes. The hall was a smaller theater and not very...

    JUSTIFIED - season 1

Finally finished the season on Hulu (gave up the higher Fx-included tier to get HBO and TRUE BLOOD) and found the season to be wonderful. It has some things in common with Deadwood outside of Olyphant. That was also considered a Western but had almost no bullets flying, either. When it did...

    Glee

So, just to be sure, you equate one of the most powerful moments in a person's life (if not THE most powerful moment) to going to the bathroom? Just checking because, you know, that's what it sounds like. :-) I think the pairing of the song's "no no no no no no no!" as well as the "mama!!!"...

    Glee

That was a lovely finale. Pairing of Bohemian Rhapsody and the birth of a child was pretty brilliant. It was funny, during the birthing scene my wife and I thought, " huh...I think all teens should witness a birth up that close..." Nothing like that to keep a kid's mind more on prevention...

    Glee

I think being a pregnant teenager is far worse than any racial issues, particularly now. Having grown up (and still living) in Ohio, it is far more inclusive culture for multiculturalism than 2000 or 1990 or when I graduated in 1987 but being a pregnant teenager still isolates a young kid...
