Welcome to the forum. I'll try to answer your questions:
First thing, get a RadioShack SPL (Sound Pressure Level) meter to check
your measurements. Usually run around $25 - $30. The human ear is
not designed for making highly accurate assessments of sound volume.
It is not uncommon for a new...
The Denon AVR-591 is a receiver not a subwoofer. What brand sub-woofer do you have connected? Have you checked the receiver's setup to ensure the subwoofer setting is turned on? Here's what I would do:
Check to see if sub is powered
Make sure sub is not set to some auto/stand by setting which...
You are going to need another Blu-Ray/DVD player and a Receiver to use your current speakers. Blu-Ray/DVD players by themselves will not drive your system for you.
That is draw back of Home Theater in a Box (HTIB) systems. They are highly proprietary, and when something breaks on them you...
I cannot wait for this Blu-ray to come out. I loved this film in the theater. The NEo Seoul sequences were breathtaking and inspiring as well. I love the take on the incidents there inspiring a religion hundreds of years later, where none of the adherents even understood what they were...
Have you ever worn the Beats Studio Pros? How do these compare to those?
I tried to wear those but their clamping force actually hurt my ears after about 30 mins. Not to mention the bass was WAY over powering. No granted for my Dubstep tracks, it was great. But when I'm trying to listen to Sade...
Looking forward to the DIY slant. I used to build subwoofer cabinets during college for money and learned alot about speaker building back then.
Considering getting back into the hobby with some kit bookshelves.
Love to see your reviews.
I own a set of M60s in my room, and I fell in love with them the moment I first fired them up.
Pair these with a beefy amp, and they will not disappoint.
I will admit I'm a bit of an Axiom and Klipsch fanboy. But the these speakers rival alot of the
audiophile products that are oversold as some...
I run MediaTomb on an Ubuntu VM to stream video content to my PS3.
It works fine about 95% of the time. I will say that it hasn't had much
development in the past two years. That is the problem with open source
in my opinion. If you have close source needs sometimes it is just better
to buy...
Gene is right. Most VCRs had either a single RCA (composite) output and two stereo RCA outs (Left/White & Right/Red). Maybe some had S-Video outs. You may need run the VCR to the receiver via composite and go to the TV via HDMI from the receiver.
No problem. I love tinkering with my system. My latest work this weekend is running a second subwoofer run to my front panel now that I have a receiver that can support stereo subs.
My boys are 6 and 8 and love me theater. My wife on the other had would rather watch Downton on her ipad than on my equipment. Go figure. But I love my decompression chamber.
Maybe if you guys could have one night together on a regular basis. Maybe each week someone could suggest something...
If I had a real workshop versus a cramped garage with a couple of consumer grade tools I might build some custom cabinets to order. Project wasn't that bad. I'll have to keep that in mind the next time any of my A/V friends mention needing a new rack.
