    Musical speakers?

Sorry Phillip, I see your point now. Now, Magnapan's are certainly something I'm looking at. One downside I could see with a good set of 'bookshelf' speakers is that my studio 100's can get loud, very, very loud if I feel like doing so. I'm wondering if bookshelf speakers could blast a...

    Musical speakers?

So essentially there isn't some universally accepted speaker/s that are known for their ability with music? I tend to disagree with you Phillip about mucic and home theater speakers. It's been my experience that it's much easier for an inexpensive 'best buy' speaker to reproduce movies in a...

    Musical speakers?

Maybe a better question would be, what qualities would you look for in a speaker which would indicate it was 'musical' Without being able to audition so many speakers that are out there, I would hope certain characterstics of a speaker design woule lend themselves to be more adept at music...

    Musical speakers?

I have Paradigm Studio 100 v2's in a 2 channel music only system. They certainly sound great. However, I've never had other 'high end' speakers in my basement before. I'm curious if there are speakers out there, for under 2,000 that would be MUCH more musical? I've heard great things about...

    Home Depot outdoor extention cord...

I hear ya...I think it might just be a particular brand carried exclusively by HD, although I haven't looked into it. Really, the ONLY reason I put this post out was to see if anyone else had tried the same wire I'm using, to see what opinion they had good/bad. Anyway, I'm definately one...

    Home Depot outdoor extention cord...

"What does Home Depot have to do with it?" The sarcasm around here is thick...I'm glad I love sarcasm. All joking aside, should the Absolute Sound have done a review on every cable, wire and extention cord known to man? "The October issue of the Abosolute Sound will feature over 12,000...

    Home Depot outdoor extention cord...

Good point, I think they might have just picked the HD outdoor cord because it had 3 (only need 2 of course) 14g wires nicely insulted, inside a good quality jacket. I'm sure there are 100 + 1 other extention cords/wires that would suffice, but the magazine wasn't going to review them all.

    Home Depot outdoor extention cord...

Speaker wire will forever generate a fun debate that's for sure. I just thought it was interesting to see a publication like the Absolute Sound throw this wire in along with high end cables just for kicks.

    Home Depot outdoor extention cord...

Does anyone use this for speaker wire? I recently read about it in The Absolute Sound. The gave it a favorable review. It's 14g black and orange outdoor cable. You snip off the AC ends and attatch some termination. There are 3 wires inside the jacket, each with their own shielding. The 3rd wire...

    Two 25-31 CS+ SVS's, or one 25-31 PC+?

How about we disregard this post all together :b It's not a CS+, but the CS line. Also, I misunderstood the FAQ on the SVS website regarding splitting the signal. They did mention I would need an independent channel for each sub. I'll just stop talking now...:)

    Two 25-31 CS+ SVS's, or one 25-31 PC+?

I sent the below question to Ron at SVS as well. I'd just like to see other SVS owners opinion on this as well.. This question is in regards to a 2 channel system that I would like to add a sub to.. For the same price as a 25-31 PC+ I could get two 25-31 CS+ subwoofers. I currently have a...

Thinking of dedicated 2 channel system..

Yeah I think the true beauty of having a 2 channel system would be to have a tube amp or two connected to speakers designed for music reproduction. Hook up a Phono stage and get old school! Home theater in my opinion is much more power then finesse. Although I'm quite sure an arguement can be...

Thinking of dedicated 2 channel system..

Wow, great advice so far. I have some thinking to do! Part of me wants to do it just for the fun of it.. I DO like the idea of fine tuning a 2 channel system just for music. Home Theater really is pretty easy to set up to sound great for most movies. I don't think it's very picky..

Thinking of dedicated 2 channel system..

Yeah, that doesn't sound too bad! Although, I might cheat and add an SVS to the '2' channel set up. ALthough the bass with the studio 100's bi-amped is pretty deep..

Thinking of dedicated 2 channel system..

OK, to simplyfy this...is there anyone out there that has both a dedicated home theater, and 2 channel set up? If so, what are your opinions on splitting them up? Do you miss the convenience of having them together or do you like the seperation?
