Looking to buy my first HDTV...

Well, I looked at the Panasonic, and I think for the money, it's probably a better deal. The problem is, I'm not sure if I could get that to fit in my room. I don't like the idea of buying a lesser set simply because it fits, but the Samsung is 108 pounds and 17" deep. The Panny is 170 pounds...

Looking to buy my first HDTV...

Well, that Samsung model I mentioned is actually a 42" RPTV. It's probably one of the smallest, if not the smallest, RPTV I've seen. It's only 108lbs and only 18" deep. So I think it could work out well in a small room. I looked at a similar model (the previous model of it I think) in the store...

Looking to buy my first HDTV...

Hi there everyone, I'm looking to buy an HDTV and I was wondering if I might be able to get some feedback on recommended models. Basically, I'll be looking for something in the low end range. I'm hoping to spend around $1600US. It will be going in my relatively small room (about 11'x11') so a...

    Question about HDTV resolutions.

Ryan, thanks for the info! If I understand this correctly, the monitors are displaying the full number of scan lines, but the scan lines aren't necessarily displaying the full detail? So would this mean that for, say, my 17" monitor capable of 1280x1024 resolution (1024p), it's displaying the...

    Question about HDTV resolutions.

Hello everyone. I hope I'm not in the wrong thread. I'm not an active member of this board, but I just jumped into the cheap way to get HDTV. I bought an open box RCA DTC-100 from Best Buy for 250 bucks. Being the cheap schmoe that I am, I can't afford a HDTV set, so I'm using a computer...

    System/Video/Sound card questions

Charles, I would recommend against the Viewsonic tuner module. It's a tv tuner that connects directly to a computer monitor. Therefore, you won't be able to use any software with it. It also uses a VGA pass-thru connection, which in my experience almost always degrades the picture quality...

    15-pin RGB connection....

Glenn, that's just the response I wanted to hear. Thanks! You've made my day! You see, being the poor college student that I am, I can't exactly afford a megabuck HDTV set. But I figured "Hey, my computer's monitor is nice enough, and some HD components use a 15-pin D-sub connector... Maybe...

    15-pin RGB connection....

Hi there everyone, I'm a greenhorn when it comes to HDTV, and I was wondering if anyone might be able to answer this question: If an HDTV with a 15-pin RGB connector can display the output from a computer's VGA card, does this mean that a computer monitor can display the output from a HD...
