What about the Aragon 8008ST. This is a great amp!! I think before you choose your amp. Pick your speakers first! The speakers you stated are all over the price range. Spending a little less on speakers frees up cash for better amps. Also make sure the speakers fit the rest of your system. Of...
Anyone have much experience with the Classe Omega or Theta Citadels? They are both a very nice looking amp and would look sooooooooo nice in my setup! :)
Sihan, Before the "masses" attack re: Lexicons's Logic 7 being the best 7.1 setup and clog up this thread. I will agree with you about the Rotel 1095 being a good mate with the Revels. I heard the M20/C30's using the Rotel and was a good match. Jeff, Deciding what surround field you...
For me the best part of THX-2 is that you don't need specially encoded DVD's to use it. The list of DD-EX/DD-ES DVD's is so small (like DTS ones too) that I would not build a system around that surround field. So my vote is Ultra-2. Mike
Mike, I have heard them several times and I think they are a VERY strong candidate in their price class. I have owned CSW's since August 1994 and have had ZERO problems! I think people put CSW in the same idea as Bose with it's Internet based buying and not really being in a "real" Home...
Smaller drivers require less power to move them. The smaller 8in woofers in the N802's will be easier to drive with a less powerful amp. You will see with the new N800's they used twin 10in woofers rather then larger ones and the results from reviewers have been stunning. I was listening to the...
I like your suggestions to far but regarding the M&K s150's instead of the 5000's. In speaking to my local dealer, they felt there was little difference in sound of the 150's v 5000's warranting the price gap. Also I take it from the size of your TV and speakers that the room is not that big...
I 3rd the rec to hire a professional to design the room so as to get the most of the room. $20k in electronics will sound better then an $80K setup not acoustically treated! Now time to spend HIS money: Processor: Mark Levinson No.40 $30K Amp: Levinson No.436 (3 for mains) $6600.00 each...
I think for the $4K market the Bryston SP-1.7 is a VERY strong contender. Great 2 channel pre-amp and great surrounds modes including THX Ultra 2. I have heard the Sp-1 and really liked it so I think the SP-1.7 will please even more! Mike
Look at the M&K MX-350, the sub is not that large and is simply amazing! It is #2 on my favorite sub list (The Revel B-15 is first). VERY worth it to audition! Good Luck Mike
Darrel,
I was in a VERY dangerous place...I HAD my credit card on me! :) My current electronics would need to be upgraded to enjoy the F30/F50's so I had a momentary flash of common sense and didn't buy anything! Is it me or do you sometimes feel like a crack head in a drug store sweating in...
Darell, Well they sound similar and different in the same sense. The bass in the F30's is a little more "chesty (ie: you feel it)" where as the F50's more natural. Similar Mid's and only slightly different highs. According to the dealer the (3)6.5in drivers in the F50 should move more air...
The price may be $3K MSRP but this EACH depending on the finish. The stands are 1500.00 pair! For a $8K investment I like the new F50's MUCH better! I LOVE those speakers! Mike
Justin, Do you listen to the Classe with the Revels? I heard the CA-201 with the F50's and thought they were a nice match not as forward as the No. 436's I also heard but big price difference too! Arnel, What do those Classe Omega monoblocks cost? Do U see the price tag? My bet is $20K...
Michael, Without starting a flame war here but if I am reading this right, your intentions to buy a Lexicon to use Logic7 but you do not plan on using 7 speakers? Isn't that defeating the point? If a really great 5.1 setup is what you seek then there are other options for you thru companies...
