Well the only thing that I can think of is that the bass for movies is usually stronger than the bass for music so you have probably adjusted the movie bass accordingly to keep it from getting out of hand which when you go to music leaves it a little lacking. You did the right thing in adjusting...

I want to ask a question about channel level settings. I would like to get a answer from someone who honestly knows the subject. Is there really an advantage to setting the channel levels at or below 0 as opposed to setting them all the way up and adjusting them from there or is it just fashion?

I agree THX is not a sound format but a sound enhancer however to have a truly THX system every thing must meet the standard form the amps to the sound treatment

I used to work at Circuit City,what a bore. Those sound rooms can be deceiving in their size we used to run receivers at +10 & 00 and these were fairly powerful units and the better of them didn't sound bad at all.
