    Dune: Part Two (2024)

Although the magical properties of spice is not what I would call sci-fi, rather fantasy/space opera, like the force in SW (at least until TPM). But I agree it is important to the story.

    Bond 26

Actually, that is not such a bad idea. Better than finding a way to resurrect Bond anyway.

    The Matrix (1999)

Well, that same year saw Dark City, Existenz and 13th Floor covering a similar subject, and while less flash, IMHO more successfully. None of them got he recognition they deserved. I don't think The Matrix has aged well, but YMMV. When I showed it to my daughter, born -96, about five years ago...

In the Land of Saints and Sinners (2023)

I don't remember this being in theaters at all, and the blu was heavily discounted, so I figured it had been out a while. The site I bought from doesn't give a release date, but it was filmed in 2023. And like I said, one of his best, highly recommended.

In the Land of Saints and Sinners (2023)

Well, that was much more than the usual Neeson action, this was really good. A real movie. Recommended.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024)

One of the Swedish newspapers headlined their review 'is this the worst movie of the year', but as the rest of the review is behind a paywall, I don't know what was so bad. Definitely not for me, but for those who like these kinds of things, I suppose this is the kind of things they like ;)

In the Land of Saints and Sinners (2023)

What a coincidence you starting this thread now, when the blu of this just popped up on sale at my favorite online site. Blind buy, should be arriving today. Really like Liam Neeson when he does action like Taken, Nonstop, Commuter, Memory, Run all night, Tombstones, and hopefully this.

    Bond 26

Like Pussy Galore (I must be dreaming) or Plenty O'Toole (But of course you are, named after your father, perhaps?) ;) Bond girls had the stupidest names then.

Please don't, you're a voice of reason in this thread, and despite the occasional disagreements, I think this is one of the more interesting threads in recent times. Do stay and contribute.

Actually, Aliens is an Oscar winner, it won two Oscars, as we all know. Not best picture, though.

Now, this is where we must agree to disagree. With all due respect, of course. I feel just as strongly for popcorn movies as I do for art movies, and I have lots of both on my shelves. Popcorn movies are also works of art, and should be treated as such. Just as a Mona Lisa, a Lichtenstein or a...

    Bond 26

I always watch CR and QoS back to back as well. Skyfall and Spectre have their moments, but the Blofeld thing is just stupid, although the idea of having a story that continues across several movies worked for me. And I thought NTTD was a fitting ending, both to the Craig era and to Bond, not...

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ - True Lies -- in 4k UHD

I know he is, just like Lucas is of Star Wars, and I didn't say it broke the mission statement, only that it stretched it. Even a director approved pan and scan release of a movie is generally frowned upon here, just like altering color correction, edge enhancement and other alterations. I don't...

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ - True Lies -- in 4k UHD

But isn't this just what George Lucas did with the special editions of Star Wars OT? I don't remember much praise for those changes, him doing in -97 what he wanted to but couldn't in -77. And as for Cameron, as technology changes, so does his opinions, didn't he say back in the laser disc days...

We Lost HTF Member Johnny Angell

The man is gone, but his memory remains, thanks partly to this forum, as we can still read his wisdom. It makes you think about ageing when people you have interacted with over the years suddenly are no longer there. I was young when I discovered this hobby and this forum, but I am no longer...
